Nokia should keep making 1208 or 6700. by making N97 and N900 they are ruining there image. If you want a smart phone or a gadget please buy Sony or iPhone not a Nokia.

map loader doesn't work with Windows Vista. Are they going to fix this windows vista issue?

If, like me, you have trouble getting the Map Loader to recognise your N900 on both WinXP and Win7, then try this fix:
- Contary to what the Nokia web site says, connect the N900 in PC Suite mode
- before you do that though, open up X Terminal and type this command:
cp /home/user/MyDocs/.qf /home/user/MyDocs/qf
Now try running the Map Loader and it should recognise the N900.

Needed to run the map loader as admin under XP to have it recognize the N900 (as mass storage).
Avoid also to move the nokia-maps from one partition to another and creation a sym link to free up some space on the application partition as suggested on maemo.org or you might end up after hours of map download with an "unknown error" in the map loader.

I just tried it via BlueTooth and it's not working.
I opened up the app and it gives me a prompt:
Connect in PC Suite Mode- Check
For Optimal performance delete old maps - check
Pressed ok (Check mark)
Now I get a prompt saying
Connected with an invalid Maps Drive - N900\Document\Maps -Exists
Says I am using an old Maps version (have the latest firmware)
or
I have never started the Maps app (I've used it before)
What Ovi Maps version am I supposed to use?

man, its only the map loader app. not the free navtec as n79.
really waiting for the ovi maps free nav. to come to it.

Great at last! I just love the voice guided navigation on my brothers N97. And now my N900 will support it. Can't wait til i get home and download. SatNav is freakin top notch!

FYI mms is not necessary on a tablet device more often than not and you can download an application called Fmms from the extras repository right now if its not there.
maps has been on there all along. but not voice guidance... same for sony, samsung etc.... voice guidance can still be acheived by third parties inc Sygic.
