Amazon Echo to be available in retail stores across the US

Amazon has announced that it will be selling the Amazon Echo across retail outlets in the US. The Echo will be available in The Home Depot, Staples, Sears, Brookstone, RadioShack, Fred Meyer, P.C. Richard & Son, and more in time for the holiday season.

This is old. I think I seen this early this year. What? They only start selling it now? It is obsolete by now. Nobody need it anyway.

    ....Siri or Cortana style voice recognition on an "ALWAYS ON" mic....
    ok...right...I'm a huge amazon user, I love prime and honestly this could prove to be useful but here's the rub.
    I may be a little paranoid here but the idea of a constant voice tracking search engine listening and data mining my every conversation scares the hell out of me.
    were there a way to activate and deactivate it eg: push a button ask for assistance rather than always on then I ould easily find it a place in my home, as it is a loud resounding NO
