If Steve and the Cyanogen team are serious about this, they should consider trying out a crowdfunding platform for these phones. I mean, look at the success of this project:
        https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/saygus-v-squared#/
That's a lot of funding for a phone with a Snapdragon 801. I'm sure the Cyanogen team can acquire better hardware than that. Plus, Cyanogen is well known in the phone dev community so we wouldn't be afraid to "donate" towards something that doesn't work. Fully supported by Cyanogen, flagship specs or not, you know you're going to end up with something that will last you a long time and have loads of stable and open development from the community.
I know I'd certainly pick up a bunch of those $75 phones for my family members. Heck, I could make a lot of money reselling cheap unlocked smartphones that work well with no OEM tracking features enabled to my local drug overlords. (okay while it sounds like a good business move I think I'll pass there)

        Go Cyanogen team!

Personally I would rather get an old flagship and install cynagen on it than some poor specced budget phone.

And after 2 months they will stop support and move on to some thing else. (oneplus one, yuphoria ...)
Community powered Cyanogen mod is great. Cyanogen OS is terrible.

                    So true

It's just me or I get the feeling that cyanohenmod is more talk than doing things?

By the track record that They f*cked up relation with oneplus. And the talk that they want to take android from Google.

I used their Rom, it's was fine didn't leave a particular impression.

Just get your shit together before spouting words you can't take back cyanogen

AnonD-209261, 13 Nov 2015Kinda but maybe cyanogen will do what Google couldn't and b... moreThe reason Google failed at Android One is because Google was rather strict in term of hardware spec-wise. This was needed so they can deliver latest iteration faster by minimizing per device testing. If hardware spec vary, OEM must participate on the testing which can cause latest iteration release date can be vary across devices.

But strict hardware requirement means less OEM interested making One since they can't differentiate their devices to competitors'.
