Benchmark score shows Exynos 8890 will be the next king of multi-core performance

16 November, 2015
However, the Apple A9 still packs the heaviest punch per core.

the ruling vm, 22 Dec 2015Well android apps will always be stuck on a jvm.Nope. The only apps stuck on the jvm, are the ones made for it. Developers have the posibillity of making apps that run natively, but for reasons I can't comprehend, Java still seems like a popular language.

As a user of custom Android ROMs, Google Nexus, stock Android ROMs, etc......

I can tell you that there is no problem with Android's performance. It's all the Google Apps, Samsung/Manufacturer Apps, and shitware that comes out of the box. Advanced users wipe the OS and install Cyanogen Mod or some other good ROM or just a cleaned-up version of the official OS with all the crapware removed.

You can install Google Play seperately without the Google software suite afterwards.

Who cares about the fúcking multi-core performance?

Single-core performance is the only important. Most Android programs and games are single threaded. And emulators (DosBox, PPSSPP, ...) which require the highest CPU performance, they are single threaded.

If google helps samsung make a cleaner ui and a better ui,that means it will be more optimized. More optimization and more power (Exynos 8890) that means unstoppable phone

Raindrop, 18 Nov 2015You gotta keep in mind that geekbench works different on PC... moreWell why would one compare a mobile CPU to a high end desktop CPU? But I can tell you this these mobile CPUs are more powerful than my Intel pentium b950. And I am pretty sure they are more powerful than some i3 and i5 processors obviously not current year. You have to realize that 7400 on geekbench is monster performance and is definitely faster than desktop CPUs for example apples A9x processor is slower than the 8890 in multicore performance. And the A9x has been said to outperform a core i5 CPU of 2013. Which is impressive.

Nvidia? Are you broken? Their chip is nowhere near being usable in smartphones.
Plus they have absolutely nothing to be being prased of. GPU? Apple and Qualcomm have a very competitive GPUs. Both apple and qc have a strong optimisation as much as (if not better in wider game range) nvidia. CPU is nothing to be proud of. Its not even level of kirin 950 and company. And BTW its been almost a year from X1 announcement and the only mass device with it is useless nvidia home console. If they were so good, then no way it could be that useless. I agree that nvidia is ok, but it doesnt hold a candle to apple a9 and hardly to even air 2.

Raindrop, 18 Nov 2015You gotta keep in mind that geekbench works different on PC... moreYou raise a very relevant point. In fact operations like encryption that have special hardware in mobile may skew the results. Still, in the context of these simple operations, the achievement of the mobile CPU is more than commendable! I would be interested to see the results given a more sophisticated and representative test.
