HTC Tattoo is getting the v2.1 (Eclair) update soon

12 March, 2010
We've been through this a few times with the HTC Magic and Hero, but HTC Tattoo owners can breathe a sigh of relief - HTC confirmed that the Tattoo is getting the 2.1 Eclair update. They just need a little more time...

I'm a proud owner of HTC Tattoo. I'll be the proudest after getting the Android 2.1 Eclair update.

I have even ordered a custom skin for my HTC Tattoo from GarSkin.com having Ed Hardy Tattoo at the back and Indian Flag + Airtel Logo at the front. Order is dispatched from Singapore and I'm waiting for it to arrive. I sold my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic to buy this beautiful phone. I was confused between HTC Touch 2 and HTC Tattoo. But, I had used HTC Hermes running custom Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM which wasn't good. I don't like windows running phones. So, I shifted to Android platform and bought HTC Tattoo. It has everything I need. Especially, the capability to install unlimited free applications available on the Market app. Long Live Android.

128MB or 192MB is the same (performance wise), makes absolutely no difference, unless its 256-512MB or higher.

A 128+64MB(192MB) ram chip performs quite slow, compared to one solid 256MB chip, if you've seen HTC's tests and reviews you may understand why this is so; if you've noticed most HTC's have a single solid 256MB chip.

Exception: HTC Dream, have you ever heard of HTC Dream users using Android 2.0 or 2.1 officially or otherwise ? Hint* - Check its specs... ;)

Galaxy will not get Android 2.0 or 2.1 officially.

All that is left for Galaxy users, is to hack the device, void the warranty, at your own peril.

[deleted post]hey hey hey! please read my post again. I never said spica runs polarbit games any smoother. Polarbit games lag (leave apart ToonWarz) on spica and this is my personal experience. Galaxy on the other hand is quite capable rendering graphics at pretty good frame rate due to its dedicated graphics accelarator onboard. Still, leave apart graphics, 800mhz vs. 528mhz, there is definite performance different which leads to rumours/reality suggesting galaxy won't receive upgrade to 2.1 due to its being low on hardware specs, unlike spica.

But according to reliable sources Spica has 256 mb and galaxy is 192mb.
And then he goes on praising his spica with omnia2.
So for that i wanted him to know spica doesn't even run polarbit games properly while galaxy does.

Then why as well i7500 isn't 800 mhz for namesake? Next time if you want to argue u have to prove it.

Games lag or don't lag depends more on dedicated display processors and unfortunately, both lack it. More Clock Speeds can never compensate for dedicated display processors which mean while extract more FsPS!

Also, there is difference between 800mhz and mere 528mhz. Try some time taking process on your units to prove it to yourself. Although, I'm an i5700 owner and I hope just like tattoo, i7500 too receive an upgrade.

What is the real source of this news? Is it actually true? The quote on Frandroid reflects a single HTC Support helpline "quote" that has appeared on forums for the last month and has since circulated everywhere. Is there substantiation direct from HTC?
