Samsung BRITECELL camera detailed, white pixels replace green ones

      And I still say the best thing they could ever do is combine the Beam and the Zoom into the Note. In a couple years I see maybe the Beam, but I don't know abour the Zoom

        This great and I understand its nice to reduce size and have a thinner phone with a smaller sensor and theoretically still be better.

        But why not at least try this with larger pixels on a thicker phone. Like maybe the Zoom.

          I still can't figure out how the S7 would capt green, yellow and other depending colors like orange whit it's RBW sensor. I know it will but dunno how.

            why don't use RGB+W?
            the Samsung britecell lack of Green? is it really no problems?

While sony sensor is a bit more rich colored and better in daylight, samsung sensor has more accurate white balance and is better in night. But the difference between two is minimal. So which sensor my galaxy note5 or s6 have is not important.

I also break the words down too and find Brit-stands for a certain country , E-stands for electroluminescent, and of course Cell refers to something small.

                          White; bright; brite-cell. Even without reading info about the tech's concept and whatnot, common sensically it should come to one's own taking that this tech aims to brighten image production and more notably on images taken in low light, resulting perhaps from those white pixels. 'Cause dark pixels brightens an image, do they not? Perhaps this could be their response to LG G4's impressive Night Mode

                                  Samsung used ISOCell in the International Galaxy S5 amongst others. So they DO use them themselves.

                                  As to why Samsung bought Toshiba's Cell-business? My personal conspiracy theory is that they're probably in search for that incredible Nokia 808Pureview sensor that Toshiba made for them and see if they can copy it without getting a lawsuit up their arse.

                                  Now if these Koreans might actually start using whatever braincells the still have and STOP making sensors smaller and phones thinner. That would actually help a LOT without making things just overcomplicated! Not just for camera's but also for heat dissipation and throttling. But apparently thinking like this is way to simple for these bozo's to understand.

                                  Oh, and BTW, Samsung/Toshiba/whoever-sells-camera-centric-smartphones: A real camera-centric phone has a REAL FLASH!!!!

                                      It can give better lo light abilities, BUT it burns out faster in high light, so it will need to use shorter exposure times, and this reduces the dynamic range by more noise in the darker areas.

                                      It is a trade off. Whether this is better or worse is a matter of usage patterns.
                                      Those taking primarily indoor pictures will see it as better in poor light.
                                      Those taking primarily outdoor pictures will see it as worse for high contrast images.

                                        With a classic Bayer-filtered sensor, the output the user see is (R, G, B) at each pixel. But this means a lot of guessing / calculation have to be done, as each pixel-sensor only give one colour. For the others you need to calculate them (Depending on the pixel layout, this can be more or less complex, but is still an educated guess). This is all this guessing that give artefacts, when the guessing fails.

                                        (That is why Bayer is just as incorrect on the pixel count counting each as when Foveon counts the stacked ones)
