Even using a credit and debit card from the same bank is two different cards for me. I don't really even want to use my phone to pay, seems a bit pretentious

Is this something like they might be able to replace all of your credit/debit cards with just one smart card? If thats the case then maybe it could be work. Just pick which card you wanna use from your phone and then swipe. That would at least save some wallet space

The problem with Smart Cards is the world is switching to chip-based cards. In the US the enforcing of what is called EMV technology has started on major retailers.

Basically if the card issues by your bank has a chip, and the retailer already has a chip reader enabled, it won't let you swipe.

Banks are already shipping cards with chip to customers without them asking for them so they HAVE to replace their old cards.

I believe in about a year having a smart card will be of very little help if every major retailer forces your to use the chip, a chip your smart card doesn't have and you won't be able to use it.

The future is going to be either electronically (NFC, PayPal...) or EMV. That's it.

LG trying too hard. What part of electronic payment they don't understand? They add another card to our wallet. Genius. Now, you have an extra card to worry about losing. The worst invention of the year.
