Google releases source code for Brillo

Google released Brillo’s source code for connected things. Manufacturers of appliances and home gadgets can start developing Brillo for their own products.

Actually there are alternatives. in terms of operating systems there is TinyOS and contiki. in terms of hardware standards the famous ZigBee standard and intel Galileo systems are also aimed for home automation and internet of things.

However, the Google implementation will be an opensource environment, basically you can implement it on any hardware as long as it fits the bill of Brillo. with the power of Google search engine and services this might turn to something really huge.

My Concern is how private the end user will be??? and that is a big one.

          AnonD-467404, 20 Nov 2015why this over hype. keeps hearing about brillo and its weav... moreYes, there is an ontology for smart appliances called SAREF which was created under the guidance of the European commission and which is being now standardised by ETSI and CEN/CENELEC.The home appliances manufacturers have committed themselves to implementing it. But of course the likes of Google and apple might not be too happy to see it succeed.

              Using an OS would make me feel guilty :/ when you can go barebones! But still..... You can't make Fallout 4 in assembly :D
