Anonymous, 21 Nov 2015sorry guys but there is a typo. it is Mi 5. Mi 4 is the old... more'Cause Mi 5 has an S801 and was released August of last year, right? Facepalmingly wrong. If you read further through the article, no description was given to Mi 5 nor was it discussed. They actually mean that Mi 4 just recently passed FCC over a year after its release. And they actually meant the soon/yet-to-be released Redmi 2 Pro passed FCC ahead of the already released Mi 4. I do not see any problem or error with that. I take it that you base FCC approvals by the chronological order of phone releases

If a phone is certified by the FCC, doesn't mean it's gonna be sold in the US. Look for example, the Redmi 2 Pro. It's certified and right now, officially, it's selling here in Colombia. Yeah, Xiaomi lands in Colombian officially. And the colombian CRC needs a FCC certification for any phone that lands here.

It is an FCC certification, which must be done if a vendor wants to sell in the US. So, probably the phone will start selling there in some time, officially now and directly from Xiaomi.
