And a company won't release a new update for 1% users who are getting problems, Lol. They will release update immediately if a large number of users are getting problems! Like recently 4S users were having problem(but gotta admit phone is way older now but still gets updates!).

Heck, how many companies are still releasing NEW phones with 5.0 (not even 5.1.1, let alone 6.0)? Even Xiaomi, everybody's darling, released a kitKat phone earlier this year in Singapore. That's how bad it is.
Android ecosystem is broken, nobody cares, and nobody is held accountable. The looser will be consumers in the end. I think instead of simply complaining and whining, consumers should start suing Google and OEMs for intentionally allowing insecure devices to be released and sold without any intent to support them.

My mother has a Xperia ZR, in perfect shape but that cant go to M so it will always be in Lollipop. Same happens with older Apple models but since apple has convinced people that having a 1 year old unit is bad you don't see the older units hanging around much. Android is the unit of choice for low income folks that are looking for good mid rage units. And they hold to those units for 3 to 4 years and most of those can only be updated to one iteration of android do to the hardware minimums of each Os upgrade.

Marshmallow rolling out 6.0 and now 6.0.1 is seeding another devices but unfortunated customers like us comming from diffrent countries ,companies and device variants have to wait if is there mercy with us..... shame... we should do it like with computers a generic software compatible with all kind of android powered devices... only rule for that is hardware limitation not the lies that companies put on us like stability issues for a quadcore but perfectly runnning on a single core and samsung know a lot of it.... want an example galaxy s3 still capable of run marsmallow....

I think this give companies with less resources a competitive edge if they provide update fast. Else probably no one would even be bothered with Motorola anymore.

Or just flash your own roms. Don't need official 6.0, plenty custom roms available even if your phone stops getting support from the manufacturer. Opo for the win :)

This is the main reason why I got Nexus the last 4 years. Samsung mainly screws you over because with every update they have to change their very heavy skin with it and test it thoroughly and that takes months. Also, after 2 years even a Samsung flagship is screwed update wise. Most people I see owning the Samsung high-ends mostly know nothing about that market and follow the advertising blindly. I must say that their hardware is top of the line though, if only they followed the philosophy of Moto or OnePlus I might buy a Samsung again. My S3 was extremely slow in less than a year.

HTC, among companies like Sony, Samsung, and LG, do not pride themselves with their budget phones. If you're gonna get a phone from those companies, get a flagship phone. If you wanna buy a budget phone, get one from Motorola or OnePlus. I have a Moto G (Older than yours, same specs, came out in 2013 with a $200 price tag and Android 4.3 on it) currently runs Android 5.1.1 officially, the OnePlus One came out with a $300 price tag and Android Kitkat, it also runs Android 5.1.1 and it will receive Marshmallow as well. Both phones are stupid-easy to root, in fact so easy that I've done it a few times and then reverted them to stock just for curiosity's sake. There are great Android phones out there, you just need to look for 'em :)

Ninjabass, 21 Nov 2015yes... thats the way, buy a nexus... i did it and update fast!Although getting a Nexus helps, it's not a guarantee
1. Google does not even make Nexus phones available worldwide
2. Even if you have a Nexus, doesn't mean you get updates right away. You could be first in line, of you could be last in the staged rollout. This is not cool when the update contains security patches.
3. Support is just 3 years, max. (assuming you buy your Nexus right when it's released). Nexus 4 won't get Marshmallow.
If this was Microsoft, they would've been sued left and right. Yet Google got a free pass for knowingly allowing OEMs to release devices with security holes.
