Well, *not* thanks to Samsung that's for sure!

You also seem to be oblivious of Jailbreaking the iPhone and essentially making a custom ROM that is lighter and runs faster all whilst packing more features than the manufacturer initially gave.

Meanwhile those stuck with a SII or even SIII do not have any kind of *official* support neither *official* OS security updates. I just can't see where this "morale" to criticize the manufacturer that actually supports their devices comes from... It's better than the nothing Android manufacturers are used to give, I tell you!

As long as Android buyers don't stand-up for themselves in this matter and continue to pour their money supporting the manufacturers that pull this antics then:
        1) The Android update problem won't go away.
        2) Apple will retain the buyers that actually care for this things.

Oh, and this comes from an Android guy that also happens to use a custom ROM (CM12.1) in his device.

Every time an update comes out you have a boatload of people asking how to go back to their previous versions on every apple forum there is because they render their old phone pretty much useless. Meanwhile i'm writing this comment with my galaxy SII backup running 5.1.1 like a champ, it just breezes through almost everything.

I think there is a misunderstanding here. Cyanogen and Cyanogenmod are different entities. Even though they support each other.
So the one who announce it, is Cyanogenmod. Not Cyanogen Inc.
