I don't think South Africa(n) customers will be able to upgrade via New PC Studio - When you install it (even if you downloaded it from Samsung's South African site) you don't even have the option to choose South Africa as your location! So I guess a roll-out based on country won't reach us here in South Africa. I also noticed that there are almost no African countries in the list of countries when NPS gets installed, that's just a pity. I have no idea how they are going to handle the upgrade over here, since all our service centers still say that they don't have any upgrade available on their systems for the i5700. Damn.

How do I make an official online upgrade from Android 1.5 to 2.1 version? Is there any samsung mobile website with a viable solution?

so where the f is my update? pc studio does not even accept connected spica, neither via usb neither bluetooth. move faster, samsung. i read users update fw manually and it is a shame.

I think many of you are being too hard on the excellent little i5700 handset and Samsung's client relations. Sure, Samsung support might not bee the most responsive or informed, but keep in mind they are being asked about an update, not current functionality. You can't really expect the support personnel to have such information on-hand.

I think the only "bad" thing happening here is that Samsung actually announced the update. If they did not, this thread would not exist. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad an update will (hopefully, eventually) be available, since bluetooth is really something I'd like to work properly on my i5700 handset. Apart form that, I'm really enjoying the phone, even if it runs Android 1.5, it's still an excellent phone. The only problem here was that everyone got their hopes up. I love having this well-priced, well-designed and so far (after 4 months of constant use) pretty stable handset. Very enjoyable indeed!

On the other hand, releasing a phone and claiming it is fully capable of Bluetooth in its specs, but knowing that it isn't, isn't the best move, that I will be the first to admit.

With that in mind, I wonder if they are going to re-announce the actual update, preferably when it is ready to be downloaded by the time it's announced :)

I love my original i5700 just the way it is, for now...
