in addition to what "iggynig" was saying about toshiba tg01 like:
not able to play music with screen off, not able to cancel the noisy click sound and bell sound when fiming/taking shots; not able to connect a normal headset. you cannot charge and listen music in the same type.
You cannot cancel the screen lock, and you cannot alter the timing- no mater what it will come in 15 seconds regardless in which menu you are.
Lots of Gps software are not matching with the hardware- only the annoying and poor in maps- copilot is working.
The touch screen is lousy, not accurate: you push in one place and is activating in another place. no any improvement after alignment.
you cannot activate the landscape mode- you click on it- press OK and after a second it is come back in portrait again, the only way to go on landscape is to activate the gravity switch and to hold it horizontally. Keep it still ! it jumps up and down .
Camera is really really poor: u need lot of light to get a decent picture, and you have to keep it very still- the smallest move it will blur the picture.
Sometime you wait a lot before the click you did will take action.
Internet: wireless is awful: you have to turn off the phone so you can connect to wireless- otherwise it will connect trough GPRS/ 3G.
to connect to wireless is a nice saga: you have to choose the network, select and go down sellect all, next next next OK close.
Then go to favorites and choose a specific sinconization page... and wait and wait and wait.... it is disconnecting for no reason from time to time.
skype not working or working very bad. you have to use headset only for it.
youtube.... not possible to use with GPRS.
Battery.... 1000 mAh .. not lasting one day if you are using as normal phone.
many many many other problems.
i received this phone present from my dear wife so i am keeping it and not complain when she is around, but i am still keeping my old sony erricson - i am now going with two phones in pocket

Too little too late for this totally flawed phone. I agree with the comment regarding 6.5 being a big improvement and the internet is very good on the handset compared to the Touch HD.

However, one of the main things I use my phone for is music and for this purpose the TG01 is terrible. First there is no 3.5 jack so the large adapter has to be used adding even more width to the phone, second there is the fact that once playing music through WMP or Coreplayer if you press the standby button to lock the screen it stops the music, if you just lock the handset with the screen lock it is just as bad because when you put the phone in your pocket anything that touches the screen makes it light up and causes the music to pause. I contacted Toshiba regarding this and they told me it was a "software limitation" and nothing could be done, the only way around it is to leave the music playing until the phone itself goes into standby mode.

The camera is also terrible on the phone and there does not appear to be any way to turn off the annoying shutter sound.

I got so fed up with the flaws in this "smart" phone I considered trading it in, only to find out the CPW trade value on it is only £4.50

My advice is to stay well away from this phone, if you are stuck with it putting SPB mobileshell 3.5 on at least makes the UI a lot better and easier to use

funny how more people are concernded about how old/new this is rather than commenting on the topic? pathetic. i recently swapped to this from a touch hd and its brillient. winmob 6.5 is a massive improvemtn over 6.1 both visually and performance wise.

An update to WM6.5 was actually available some months ago on the Toshiba site; however, they actually loaded a new version on 17 March 2010 which contains several performance improvements. More extensive information can be found on MoDaCo or XDA Developers.

Erm...what are are you talking about GSM Arena, Toshiba released the upgrade to 6.5 in mid november. This new version is a bug fix release that also serves as an upgrade for those who are still using 6.1 O_o Should be more careful about how you cover news like this. I am in the UK and have owned the TG01 sine launch. It is a good phone and even better with this latest update.
