I am aware what Microsoft has said, yet we don't know what is happening deep in their labs for the future.
Again, some of the OS them, got pretty big lifecycle extensions (NT 4.0 SP6 and XP SP3 to name a couple). Note the SP. In the same sense we don't know the lifecycle of a future major update. For Win10 desktop, why are already in the first major update (1511) and by summer we will have received the second. Probably along with a refresh for the mobile version. These get their own clock ticking.

AnonD-426702, 03 Dec 2015Love people in the comments that "already know" what will h... moreThe thing is that Windows 10 on PCs is set to be the last OS they release (according to several news sources) and then just keep updating it and it's core over time...think of it as the modular phones that are in development - just keep replacing standalone parts, that's more or less how it was described. So having the phone and tablet version have a set death date is kind'a weird to say the least.
Regardless though, who cares, a lot of us will be dead by then so it doesn't really mater.

Riiight.
Seriously now, you guys that wrote this article... You really don't know how Microsoft handles support and updates in their products? They all have a predetermined lifecycles (desktop Windows, Office, servers, you name it), some get 1-2 extensions (assuming some major update in between), but that is not 100 % relevant to when they will release an actual new OS.

It was already told that they would work on Windows mobile for 4 years and decide to drop it or not , when WM 10 was announced first.

Why Windows 10 Mobile ends? I thought Windows 10 is the last iteration from Microsoft. They said they will only keep giving updates and there will be no Windows 11 or any such thing. Unless Microsoft are making a new platform for mobile. It just does'nt feel right if they keep changing like this. Can't they let something stick around for at least 30 years? Why keep changing stuff every 2 years? Consumers are confused. I bet there are still a lot of people out there don't even know how to use Windows 8 yet. We all still stubborn keeping our Windows 7.
