-insert over-dram... more1. I am guessing you haven't used QHD screens. I use Vibe Z2 Pro (6.0" QHD), and my friend has Oneplus One....... big difference in screen quality.... 1080p looks low-res to me now after using QHD for 1 year.
2. Now you can get 1080P screen on $150 phones (Lenovo K3 Note). QHD is a must for flagships now even if it is just to differentiate itself from the mid-rangers.
I used to think like you earlier........
2 years ago 1080p was overkill for me
1 year ago QHD was overkill
now 4k seems overkill

Snapdragon 820:4GB RAM:64GB of storage with microSD card support:4.7~5.5 inch AMOLED/QHD Screen:Fingerprint sensor on the power button. Thats it! ^^

To have a 2k screen:
- lower performance right off the bat (argument that you have more powerful hardware is shut down since that hardware will always perform better on 1080p anyway)
- higher price tag
- no benefit for video (95% of everything is 1080p) or gaming (see above), only for pictures
- lower battery life
Remind me again why you want a 2k screen on a PHONE?

qHD or not, I hope this is an AMOLED screen & maxes out at 5.2 inches coz any bigger & its just a big phablet requiring 2 hands - NOT GOOD!

no QHD for the next year too? that will be a huge fail for them. pretty much most flagships will all move to QHD.
oneplus one was a game changer in that they brought a lot of good hardware for a good price. they screwed people with cyanogen leaving the scene prematurely when they said they would suport it for AT LEAST 2 years. that was what op said. now they have this crap unpolished oxygen os. the oneplus phone are about delivering top notch specs at a great price. oneplus 2 is lukewarm and not as exciting. OPX is also kaka. they barely got away this year with the 1080o screen ..barely. next year, no QHD, it will be their downfall.
I have a feeling they wont be able to bring back the thunder they had with the OPO.

The source seems to say the pictures aren't real and are by randoms.
Will be interesting too see the quality/price of this. And hopefully they release it in the first half of the year.

Is it me or is this "tiny startup" going overboard with pushing 3 devices in less than a year?
On the plus side, at least they are smart enough to use 1080p instead of 2k screen (seriously, why would you want more than 1080p on a phone? =| )
