I cant understand why all the WP users act so surprised. Windows wants to make profit, like everybody else does, they are not a charity organisation. If they can make money with something they will sell it to whoever wants to pay for it.

Used for a while on windows phone , recognition is much faster and accurate than either Now or Siri , on Android Cortana is way too slow and not as integrated as Google now

Cortana which is on Android and iOS is not as deeply integrated with OS as in Windows. MS is offering most of their products as services now, so its basically a win win situation for them. They want to have other OS users to have taste MS products and lure (so I think) them towards Windows Mobile OS.
Now that same Windows (W10) runs on all devices (phone, tablets, laptop, xbox), a huge user base created. By the introduction of UWP its a great opportunity for the developers to create one app. and deploy them to all devices. Its proving to be true from recent app. additions and updates.

So, basically Microsoft is happy with people not buying their phones.
What is the point of buying a Lumia when I can get all their services on other platforms with apps to choose from as well. They are killing their own OS by doing this. Windows Mobile is not perfect. But, atleast we had a few choices. Now, its going to be Android and iOS only.
I hate to not have choices at all. Without competition, innovation will stall. This is bad for people.
