is this the next Galaxy Zoom?

I would like a modular camera that allows me to utilise all 3 elements of the exposure triangle, not just the 2 we have currently in the likes of the note 5, aperture next please or i that just not workable?

No. 2 looks like the back of my phone(nokia808)
No. 5 looks like Lg's legendary Viewty, one of the first touch screen phones which predates the android. It has xenon flash, schneider kreuznach lens and it is the first phone to record slo-mo video

Mounting different (camera)modules is pretty much precisely what Project Ara has been about for many years, once started by some Dutch scientists that had a good idea. As being able to change the camera module, among others, on project Ara, which has been showcased several times by now, there pretty much is a case of prior art on 'phone on which you can mount different camera modules'.

Seriously this needs to stop. Patents are supposed to be for non-obvious inventions. There has already existed an idea for a modular cell phone (Project Ara). This sort of stuff is obvious, patents should NOT be granted for things like this. Reform is severely needed.

Iskander, 10 Dec 2015It will never hold in court, due to prior art... There's no prior art to this... They aren't patenting the lenses. They're patenting the phones.

Well could be used in 2018-2019 phones or maybe connecting with project ara

it makes my brain hurt that it's samsung patenting this idea. Honestly, it wasn't even that hard to come up with, i mean they narrowed down the modular phone concept to just one modular part, arguably the one that would be changed most often in a modular phone. Why couldn't, say, LG come up with this? At this rate Samsung will end up having an absolute monopoly of the android ecosystem, or at least it'll be the only big OEM, followed by a plethora of nameless chinese ones.

First, they stop making DSLRs, then create a Lumia 1020 copy. Patent troll!!!

I hope to use Big Lens Camera Module on a Mid-Low Smartphone Specs.
hope Samsung able to make the Camera Module compatible for any smartphone.
Hope it can support external battery pack too, just like DSLR.

Though Google's Project Ara is working on a modular phone concept, I think this is a more practical approach. And I think camera module is a good starting point and later expand to other parts as well. Well done.
