I think this is a good job by samsung. With Bada and advancements like the AMOLED Samsung is showing that second place is not good enough and continues to innovate drastically. I'm not saying Nokia or Ericsson are poor brands but until they actually launch some of their fabelled super phones and UI's and OS's they don't really have an arguement for first. Very ambitious plan by samsung. And Well planned.

That being said. Ya Samsungs customer support is a joke. And raises the question are they ready to own the podium?! I suppose we will find out sooner than later. Being in second place affords them a bit more understanding for lack of support. But being first overall in market share means people will demand/expect great service. Otherwise you risk destroying your reputation and thusly your market share.

Good luck Samsung some exciting models and ambitious plans for the year. I hope you can follow through

samsung replacing nokia is just gross! even if i don't like nokia i still want them to stay rather than samsung. like seriously! samsung is gross! fckn ugly designs and a cheap wannabe budget phone touchwizz ui on high-ends trying so hard to be iphones. seriously! it's just disgusting. samsung has no innovations at all. all they do is copy. they're just pure BS!

How Samsung could be number 1 if they have sloppy support. We all know a support could make or break a mobile phone.

Niraj, 06 Apr 2010Samsung are gaining high end market very fastly but they ar... morei think i agree with you, when nokia releases s40 and added touchies and the new symbian^3 i think nokia will gain such trust again. Well im one of the currently disappointed people because current s60 feels sick and s40 is friggin old. Yet, samsung is also impressing lot of fellas, and replacing nokia in the top isn't much obscure.
        Everything's my opinion :)

I'm gonna put my ass on the line and say Bada is going to kick some iPhone and Robot Android Ass in a big way.

Sure... Sony ericsson... with market share 5%... Why Samsung after 2-3 months are rubbish? All the Samsung phones that i had wrking perfectly after 1,5 year of use... Also, Samsung has the best displays of the market an the lowest sar ratio. Nokia has the worst batteries out there. Finnaly, a phone from Nokia is more expensive than a Samsung phone with the specs...

Currently Samsung is no. 2 only because they have strong line up of their touch based phones...
When Sony Ericcson and Nokia starts to introduce their touch based phones every week like Samsung then Samsung will fall to no3 position with great loss, because S.E. And Nokia gives better support to their customer...

Samsung are gaining high end market very fastly but they are poor in midrange phone market...
You Samsung fanboys are saying that it will become no.1 because Nokia is very behind in touch screen market and in high end phone market...
Yes it is true in present but not for future... Nokia is just waiting for code completing of s^3, s^4, meego and touch based s40... Once they do it, no one could stop Nokia...
Upcoming Nokia devices (x10, x9, n8, c6) are going to blow away all Samsungs crappy Bada, Winmo and touchwiz phones...
Samsung phones are good for only 2-3 months of using, afterwards they are like hell and rubbish and afterward you would find a cheap Nokia phone better than your High end Samsung...
                  People will buy nokia reason:
                  free Navigation
                  Better Support
                  Good internal memory
                  Better signal and call quality..
                  And for many other reason...

Anonymous, 06 Apr 2010U DONT KNOW nythin dude.. samsung was pushed back last year... morei wouldnt say that symbian brought them back but rather their poor product support. My brother has the Omnia(windows) and i have the Omnia HD(symbian) and we are faced with poor updates to fix software issues. We had to hack the firmware updates for other regions cause there isn't any for our regions. Honestly speaking that is one thing that is preventing me from buying any other samsung especially there new OS (bada) phones.
If they can assure me that they have fixed their support then i might come back.

Samsungs support is crap! Afraid to say I may have to go for the new iphone this year, my i8910 has loads of bugs and samsung do nothing! :-/

Samsung will definately not beat nokia this year or next, people are fed up with being let down by samsung. Shame really.

In the Philippines, Nokia still dominates the mass market. But these units are bought in the black/side market. Not much are buying their units on Nokia Stores. Unlike Samsung, who has caught the "upper class" market with its slick line of phones released recently, many are actually buying this phone direct at the Samsung Stores and with the pricing not that heavy on their pocket plus the improved aftersales services, they surely are generating actual sales.

Samsung also is now considered one of the top of the line smartphones available in the Philippines, at par in sales revenue with iPhone, Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry.

If Samsung lowers more their price, they'll surely overtake Nokia in actual sales revenue, like that of BlackBerry.

I own a samsung and so does my best mate. Both he and I are astounded at the complete lack of support / updates samsung provide. Its nothing short of appalling. Sell you a great spec'd phone? Sure. Support the product? Nope. Apparently the hadnt thought that far ahead. I dont really care one way or the other. This is just my personal experience with samsung, and they've lost me, my friend and anyone who asks me, as customers. My advice to you. Buy at your peril.
