Samsung announces 128GB Pro Plus microSD card, calls it world's fastest

16 December, 2015
Samsung's latest microSD card is 128GB large and it's part of the company's Pro Plus series. This is Samsung's highest-performance brand for microSD cards, so understandably the new one is fast.

Allowing for additional expansion and not milking the consumer was what made them popular in the first place. Silly move. I was going to get the note 5. Waited for its release and when I saw they dropped expansion slot, without hesitation, went to another device.

The pro plus is fast but I had a problem with my camcorder (4K) being able to use a 100mbs recording speed with it. It has worked in all other devices fine (cell phone, tablets etc) My Sony camera would not however recognize it as fast enough for highest recording speed. A sandisk with same posted read and write speeds as Pro+ worked fine. I have not allegiance to any manufacturer, just posted my unique results for anyone interested. I tried to separate Pro+ cards purchased at different times from local retail and tested in 2 separate cameras to make sure not a unique card problem and had same results.

            AnonD-477512, 17 Dec 2015The Lexar 128GB Professional UHS-II 1000x microSDXC Memory ... moreHello,
You've done some real tests by yourself? And you know, it is pretty unfair to compare (groundlessly, theoretically only) UHS-I and UHS-II cards, which have second row of extra pins for data exchange.
Samsung Pro Plus 64GB MicroSD card is really fastest one within UHS-I cards. Yes, I have it and yes I've done some own testings.

The Lexar 128GB Professional UHS-II 1000x microSDXC Memory Card is much faster and comes with a USB 3.0 UHS-II reader . UHS-II is 3x faster than the fastest UHS-I cards. I use three 2000x Lexar SDXC UHS-II cards with my Samsung NX1 that has UHS-II support and ultra fast uploads of my 4K videos with the UHS-II reader.

Anonymous, 16 Dec 2015what would you do with 64 GBOn a PC - nothing, that's what.
On a mobile device, quite a lot actually, but only if it's an SD card.
Put all your movies and pictures on it -> faster access AND data saving from your monthly plan. Also while this is a more recent thing - high quality gaming.
                  XCOM: Enemy Within - 3GB'ish
                  Grim Fandango Remastered - 3.2GB
                  Broken Age - 2GB'ish
                  Asphalt 8 - 1.5GB
For devices like the Shield Tablet, having a nice SD card slot and a big card to put in it is actually awesome, especially now when you can use it as internal storage.

Personally if I had the option, I'd put everything I have on a SD card and not use internal storage at all only due to the added safety that nothing will happen to it even if the phone completely dies.

they release 128GB sd cards and say it is the fastest sd card on earth, then why don't they put it on thier mobile phones instead making it non expandable like the s6,note 5 and s6 edge. People are paying so much for flagship phones. I think it's abusive already. In order to obtain more money they remove something useful,so that you are going to buy again for something that isn't useful(new phone) that has the "some thing useful in your previous phone. What a joke
