SMS;
e-mail;
normal call;
Other IM systems like Facebook Messenger (granted, you may not have this one).
What I laugh at is that people were taking it like a life or death situation, going as far as saying it's an emergency communication. Seriously??
If you have someone's number for Whatsapp, you have the phone number already. If that number can't pick up the phone right away, what impedes you of sending an SMS, that will be sent and will arrive if both are under GSM network, no need for data connection?
Cost? Would cost be the problem??? MOST operators here (I bet 1 cent yours have it) charge for the 1st SMS of the day, and then the rest ones are free.
I just can't stand all that fuzz about it. 2 days, what business is it that you simply can't send SMS instead of Whatsapp messages? For mere 2 days? All that hassle and it's back now even.
Would they help to begin with, it wouldn't have started. They did deserve it, I can't stand it that they population sides with the company that refused to help catch a freaking criminal that would easily ruin their families, and you know easily that's what these drug dealers manage to do.

I do use whatsapp to work daily, pratically making twice if not thrice the amount of work that need people's approval without taking a walk or using the car to meet personally, cause not everyone pick up the cellphone right after hear the call - some people are really busy, you know.
None of the Brazilians are happy with the actual state of the country, neither 'not care" about the wrongdoings the politicians had been doing for a long time; but things are changing, and people living in Brazil are not taking politely the mistakes and corruption cases without any coercive action - Facebook helped the S.T.J and Federal Police into find criminals hidden in the country, but I don't understand why Mark Z. haven't helped in WhatsApp case.
By the way, my WhatsApp returnednto work a few minutes ago.

What's app would lose business if this happens again, so Brazil is flexing their muscles and showing that it would be beneficial if next time they cooperate. Quite normal actually, happened with blackberry in Pakistan the other day, where Blackberry had officially left the market because they didn't want to comply.

Ayy seriously, they do say it. Like, no, your phone isn't connected to a GSM network that makes calls right?
It's pretty sad to see the population (sadly from my own country) go wild with something like this, they are more mad at closing an app for mere 2 days than the fact that the company didn't help catch a friggin drug dealer and his huge gang. Something they should do by law, just like the NSA related laws, but here, nooo, 3rd world country! Developing country! We don't give a fart!
And the population sides with them still. Looking back I can't say if I laugh at their stupidity or cry at the fate of this population.

The investigations of said drug dealer (and not him only, the entire gang) date back to 2013, with the courts requiring information from Whatsapp, which refused to comply with the law and give said information for the investigations. Now it's been shut according to the laws. Nothing out of the ordinary actually.
It's like: for NSA they'll just spread theirl *** and say COME

To be frank whatsapp is used widely just to spread sex scandals, framed political lies and stickers. . .when was the last time someone actually used to chat in developing countries ??

I think CEO of Whatsapp should comply with court order rather than being sad over the decision. Judge did the right thing...if they cant honour laws of Brazil then whatsapp should stay out of there.

I understand all the judges have used shouting and smoke signals until today to communicate with others over a distance. That's what we get for letting people who don't even come close to a computer make such decisions. One giant facepalm!
