Anonymous, 17 Dec 2015that's what I was thinking too.. mid range processer is as ... moreThe 650 Gpu performance Might not be up there with the 430 or 418 but its cpu performance kills the 808 and the 810 And even the 7420

Anonymous, 18 Dec 2015Sorry Snapdragon. You lost it. No more Snapdragon for me af... moreIn that case I'd say your jumping the gun, at least in the case of the new 800 series chips.
The 810 mainly suffered from the use of standard arm ip (the A** series cores) coupled with high operating frequencies and a somewhat flawed manufacturing process (TSMC'S 20mn HPM).
In the 820 however, Qualcomm are going back to using their own custom cores (Kryo), these are cores that are designed with the principle aim of balancing out performance against power efficiency, and Qualcomm have in the past proven to be very good at this. Also the 820 will be built on the now proven 14nm FinFet process (which is the main factor in the story of how the Exynos 7420 avoided the issue's suffered by the 810).
These new 600 series SoC's however are still using stock Arm cores, yes the A72 is said to be a lot more efficient than the A57, but as far as i can tell the 650 and 652 are being produced on the old 28nm process. it remains to be seem what kind of power efficiency they can offer as a result of these factors.
In short, I personally am expecting great things from the 820 and it's new Kryo cores, am a bit more cautious in my expectations of the 650 & 652 though.

Good choice. These are decent mid-range chips, considering they are better than this year's top range. Just wish they used better manufacturing process. If not Finfets, then at least 20nm.

Lol, 18 Dec 2015Not 64-bit.64 bit computing is still at least a couple of years away from being a necessity for anything with lower than 3 GB RAM. And by that time, lower phones can use down-clocked 820s.

Sorry Snapdragon. You lost it. No more Snapdragon for me after 810 fiasco ! Making model numbers bigger wont change your destiny. we are not fool.

Why don't they just use down-clocked 805s? It's solid, robust, and probably cheaper to make now.

G4 user, 17 Dec 2015but still sd800 2.3 ghz krait adreno 330 gpu ..... better ... moreClock speed doesn't mean very much... You know that, right?
And the 650 and 652 will most definitely beat both the 810 and 800

but if we dont have a proper gpu then a powerfull cpu is a waste for mobile games./.... because those gpu are surely weaker than 818 and surely adreno 330 ..... so if someone is moving from a 800 to a 6xx series think it twice ... not only cpu is waht is needed... better wait for sd820

Alpha7, 17 Dec 2015I think adreno 510 will be adequately powerful but less tha... moreYeah I think your right about the Adreno 510, my guess is somewhere between the 405 and 418 in speed terms.
and also agree that thermal properties may be an issue, I know the A72 is supposed to be a lot more power efficient than the A57, but if these chips are built using the 20mn process or older, there may still be some problems.

Lex79, 17 Dec 2015Those four A72 cores should provide some pretty serious cpu... moreI think adreno 510 will be adequately powerful but less than adreno 418 as the trend has been ( weaker gpu than 8xx series of previous year)
But my main concern is the heat that will be generated by 4xA72 cores given what happened with 4xA57 cores .

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2015This new Snapdragon 652, is it more powerful than Snapdragon 800?Maybe not on the GPU side, but CPU is certaintly faster, more memory bandwidth too.

Anonymous, 17 Dec 2015This new Snapdragon 652, is it more powerful than Snapdragon 800?I'm more worried about the more heat they will generate looking by what happened with 4x A57 cores
