ArcaBoard is a $20k hoverboard nobody wants

25 December, 2015
It's almost 2016 and we still don't have legit hoverboards. Worst of all, we are now calling these things hoverboards, something that neither hovers nor is a board.

ArcaBoard is much behind the hoverboard of Alexandru Duru (see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FADV4FpkdtI ) who is also a romanian like Dumitru Popescu, the guy seen riding the green flying platform with 36 ducted fans. A. Duru floats in the air with less than 50 hp while D. Popescu needs a ridiculous high power, 272 hp. ArcaBoard is an idiocy. D. Popescu used unsuitable motors.

Designed on an iPad, there's your problem! Also not sure what video the author was watching but I saw lateral movement... We didn't see how it was achieved (presumably someone pushed him) but hoverboards, at least if we're talking like in BttF shouldn't provide this themselves; they should just hover!

AppleFanBoy, 28 Dec 2015The Apple watch makes you look pretty foolish .. Says the guy who doesn't have one? Tell you what, get one, and see how much positive reception you receive. Beter yet the space black Stainless steel with the space black link bracelet and you will get laid more than Charlie Sheen.

in its current form, it may not appear to be all that impressive, but put 4 of these things together with a reasonable power plant, directional ducting, fly by wire controls, and a seat... can you say Jeston's flying car?

battery is the main drawback here... unless someone invents a battery like in the movie "terminator" this could be possible for hoverboards...

until monopoles are indeed proven, it would quite a hurdle to develop those hoverboard. unless our roads or landspace is coated with magnetic plates to act a counter force ..similar concept with maglev trains. and definitely it will require a lot of power.

People were scare... moreThis first attempt is very unstable (it's a product liability suite just waiting to happen), appears to have no directional control (a flaw inherent in true hoverboards), would have about a 5-minute battery life, and s way too expensive. This particular hoverboard is not going to sell and will quickly fade away. However, it does suggest the possibility that true hoverboards might someday be available for committed enthuiasts with more money than brains. (Can any aeronautics engineers run the number on how much volume of air those fans need to pump to stay off the ground? The video is either faked or intentionally using very misleading camera angles.)
