Honestly, it seems that SONY is so confused and mixed-up they don't know whether they are coming or going. On their corporate international website, they list almost 200 different (but similar) smartphones, but none, including the newest Z5 are not even sold in the USA! How foolish and costly is that? SONY, what are you thinking? Who is running your company? Why do you repeatedly chose to ignore the USA which is the biggest, richest and most important market on the planet? What's that you say? You are losing a million dollars a day on your smartphone business....really? No wonder!

All your products should have a full warranty that is honored without question at any SONY facility in the world, no matter where or how originally purchased....like Apple. Look, I am not a big fan of Apple, and I own nothing they make, but you have to admit that they do a lot of things right. Maybe it's time for you to take notice of what it takes to run with the big dogs.

The upcoming Z6 will probably be your last chance to make a big impression on prospective buyers in the smartphone arena. It had better be a totally "no-compromise" phone. It needs a better faster camera; cleaner bloat-free UI; and it has to be backed up by world-class service & customer support. You need to focus on getting the important basics right, and quit wasting your energy and resources on gimmicks that add nothing to the real value of the phone, such as 4K, TouchForce screen; PlayStation remote control....all worthless. Instead, focus on better battery life, more reliable fingerprint scanner, a brighter more beautiful screen, better audio with front-facing speakers, and much improved service & support. We don't need 4 or 5 phones, all very similar, to choose from. Two or three is plenty and practical. But just make sure they are the world's best, or go home and close your doors forever.

And why do you focus so much effort on marketing your phones in SE Asia and India, where most people don't have indoor plumbing and cannot even afford to buy a loaf of bread, much less one of your over-priced cell phones. Market your phones in places where people can afford to buy them and use them.

Apple is the biggest and most successful because they give us a great product and back it up with amazing customer support. Why did you close all your mall stores here in the USA? Where are we to go to see, touch, tryout, and ask questions about your products? Even Microsoft has mall stores everywhere now. But, in your omnipotent wisdom, you have chosen to cut-off your access to the most affluent market in the world by closing your retail outlets. You don't even sell the Z5 on your USA website. Who is running your company, and what are they thinking?

I want to buy the Z6 when it comes out, but I certainly won't if I cannot see and touch it first, or if there is no place in the USA to buy it, or if I cannot get excellent warranty support later if needed.

SONY if you want to be a big player, the Z6 had better be amazing. You need to improve build quality (Omni-Balance design is beautiful and you should keep this simple classic and beautiful design, but no plastic, please), make the phone available in the USA on your own website unlocked and with all major carriers, advertise the hell out of it in print and on TV, price it to sell ($800+ is entirely ridiculous for an also-ran phone), and, most important, back it up with world class worldwide service.

                      Good luck!

mas39, 31 Dec 2015It's crazy for anyone to imagine that Apple or samsung make... moreIt's not just about the hardware. It's about user experience as a whole. And although spec wise Sony's handsets are great, overall, things are still sub-par. Namely warranty/service. I have Sony service centers in Asia refusing to even take a look at my US-bought Xperia. That left a bad taste as a consumer. Apple on the other hand, covers iPhone warranty wherever they have an official Apple store/authorized service center. I even had my US iPhone serviced in Japan without any questions. So I can understand why from many people, Apple stands taller than Sony regardless of the spec list.

As for Samsung, I don't know why people like Samsung. They have bad after-sales service, same local warranty issue (eg. US Samsung center explicitly stated that they refuse to service any unlocked devices) and yet charges premium on their stuff like Apple.

Their warranty is only localized to where the handset is sold, which is backward thinking since as people and their smartphones are becoming more mobile and global.

The only company that does it right seems to be Apple, as iPhone's warranty is valid in wherever country where there's Apple store/authorized service center.

Launching so many phones together will be confusing, troublesome for retailers & is a sign of sony's Stupid marketing stratergy.
They shoud just release Std & ultra model in November/September for holiday season & compact & premium model of that series in march.
                                It is common sense.

A less than $400 Z model is going to be really attractive as the Z lineup tends to get supported longer than the rest of the lineup (Z1 was released on 4.2, is now on 5.1.1 and fully patched for stagefright, which is quite impressive for Android).

Too much choice will ruin it this year. Please Sony focus on the customers' need and leave this childish choices strategy. In general, a Compact, a Regular and an Ultra should be there for the whole year. No mid/low range phones this year. Concentrate on last year's models' software support and adding just the 3 models this year. The less garbage the less you need to clean up for the following year. Just an advice.

According to Qualcomm's official site, Snapdragon 652 supports "Up to 21 MP camera". However, Sony Xperia Z5 has a 22.85 MP camera. It leaves something for Sony to clarify.
