They profit from the society and that's why they need to pay back the society, to keep it running. This goes for each and every country they operate in individually. Stop being so thick. It's the same reason anyone pays tax.

Apple does not owe anyone, any amount of money. They have given great service to the tech world already by just simply existing. We are the ones who need to support apple.

“one of the largest tax payers in the world and paid every euro of tax it owed wherever it did business.”
Then why are they agreeing to pay €318 mil??

Er considering many people seem really angry at Apple, it's odd nobody bothers to take matters into their own hands in real life.

As much as I'd like to see some accountability on Apple's part, it's gonna be hard. Apple is a massive corporation. It has a battalion of lawyers and accountants at it's disposal. They will find loopholes in countries' laws - and put some magical accounting to work. They will delay cases for as long as they can so they can evade longer. They will maximize as many strikes/fines as legally possible as usually corporate entities cannot be jailed, just fined. By the time they run out of loopholes to exploit, they would have gotten the maximum profit anyway.

Oh and you can't arrest a corporate entity for a crime. Only the employees directly involved in said crime. Maybe probation.

I don't like it, you don't like it. But that's how powerful the pursuit of profit is.

After the sueing of Apple making iphones slower, this story make it worst for Apple. Karma strikes back at ya. This is what you get for sueing Samsung too much. Other company feels like they need to start sueing Apple to give them a taste of their own medicine.

                                      gotta love their pr/lawyer spin.

when they say they are one of the "largest tax payers" in the world, due to english phrasing they can go back and say what they actually mean is they are one of the "largest payers of tax" in the world (eg. "god of war" vs "war god"). very different meaning to what they want people to actually think.
