HTC builds great phones. But the ability to record in 1080p is much less important than a decent lens, which their handsets haven't featured so far.

i guess so, yamaha can provide 5.1 A for them the problem is 1080p V as they develop software for camera in poor way (unless they look to Motorola system), way back to HTC HD and HD2 which is supposed to be the model capable of HD recording based on its name but what was the V quality 640x480 and blard. I was wondering if WMO is not allowed to have HD video recording or they need more study to improve their tech specially now the year of Android comes. WMO will be kick out even WMO 7 came out.

I'm grumpy. I would rather the Desire had 720p recording now than the possibility of 1080p next year. My eyesight is fading fast in old age.

HD 1080p ? yeah right .. the clip recorded will be that size no doubt but itll probably wont have the clarity and sharpness needed to see what the hacks being recorded. up until now.. some nokia phones that record clips in cif size are clearer and sharper than any of the HTC phones. so lets see how this HD recording of theirs will fair

Anonymous, 18 Apr 20101080p is unecessary, since 720p is well enough for a fullHD... morethe Desire will get 720P video encoding
thats not the same as 720P video recording
encoding means it will natively be able to play 720p hd rips from its in built video player

1080p is unecessary, since 720p is well enough for a fullHD tv to upscale to a picture that looks almost identical to 1080p. Its not like with still cameras, where resolution can be used as a digital zoom, by cropping pictures. You cant really do that in a simple way with video.
1080p use more storage, slower transfers, higer cpu activity while recording (hence less battery time)... 720p, is much better than wvga, but 1080p is not doing much for the experience...
And the Desire is supposed to be upgraded to 720p, in the first major maintanance upgrade, according to information given to a Swedish carrier.

I respect HTC, don't like much of them ever since they start making alike handsets with different names and slightly altered shapes. Anyway HTC tablets with Android, I don't know. It's feels almost like standing in the line of other Andriod based tablets. And it could be like bigger HD2.
In the line of Andriod Tablets, the one I am eagerly waiting for is Adam by Notion Ink, I think they have great design and right price and it is near to come. I am sure those guys will take care of most of the things people like me are waiting for since those guys are not covered by all this multi-media race and on-going trend, yet.
