Anonymous, 08 Jan 2016What's up with all you people putting emphasis on GPU in a ... moreGood question... Anandtech's review of Mate 8 pretty much said the same. However I am not spending money on $600+ devices, so I would let others who are actually buying to make real comments.

Trying to wear the hat of power user, the following questions come to my mind.
              i) For a $600+ FLAGSHIP device, what is the minimum expectations one would have in 2016?
              a) A great QHD display with good brightness, color accuracy etc
              b) Great performance with that high resolution display while browsing/watching videos/playing games etc etc.
If GPU is the reason why I am not getting a great QHD display and have to settle for FHD, why should I not blame the company for not doing better?
ii) After spending $600+ for a mobile, why should I not be expected to play high-end games in my device? Or rather, how much more I should pay to get a device in which I can play high end games as well?
iii) When competing products (like Samsung S7, Xiaomi MI5 etc) with competitor's chipsets (Exynos 8890, SD 820) provide excellent gaming performance, why should Huawei not provide the same at the SAME price point?

Actually, 35% is overall growth across all business units. For consumer BG (Device Section), growth rate is staggering 70% http://www.arabnews.com/economy/news/861891

What's up with all you people putting emphasis on GPU in a mobile device?

Most users who buy this device (or any device frankly) wont be playing demanding games, or even install them in the first place. Therefor it's a better choice to go with a "not the best GPU available I'm gonna cry and say ugly things on the internet" for a company, saving on costs of production, design (no heat dissipation issues) of the product, and battery life (arguable if TDP is any different in a MP8 and MP12 compared to MP4). Or all of you just want to run benchmarks till throttling kicks in?

Read his comment carefully, he only mentioned about GPU part, not CPU part. And you keep talking about CPU part of Kirin 950 which is pretty good. Huawei should have gone with atleast MP8 configuration of Mali T880, not MP4 which is a bummer. Samsung is going with MP12, so Kirin 950's GPU is way way behind competition.

Novage, 08 Jan 2016The Mali t880 a 2 years old Gpu ???!! I think he was right. He criticized only the GPU part, not the CPU part of Kirin 950. Huawei uses MP4 configuration of Mali T880, unlike Samsung which uses MP12 configuration of Mali T880. Samsung's Exynos 8890 will have 3 times the GPU power compared to Kirin 950. Kirin 950's GPU power is closer to SD 805's Adreno 420 GPU, which is about 1.5 years old. So his criticism of Kirin 950's GPU is very much valid.

i read a review from China website which is Mate 8 vs Iphone 6 plus .conclusion is :
1 .both phone is good , no matter you choose which one , still good phone.
                            2. the review & compatition vs iphone 6 plus , its already late 1 year for this compatition. that means we are using this price buy the iphone 6 plus.
                            3. no matter how , who ever can afford iphone 6 plus will still go for apple. the problem is who can't buy iphone also not go for Mate 8 due to pricing not friendly.
                            4. in term of battery life , the review show its already less the power consumption for 3D games & online streaming video .

With the first Cortex-A72 cores in a chipset (four of them, plus 4x Cortex-A53) and Mali-T880, the Mate 8 should double the performance of the Mate 7 (neither Snapdragon nor Exynos chipsets have those yet). The chipset is wrapped in 6 layers of highly conductive DX19 material to distribute the heat away from the chipset.

The new 16nm FinFET manufacturing process allows for 70% better power-efficiency so Huawei is promising over two days of use. The 9V @ 2A charger will give you a full day's worth of battery life in just 30 minutes. Charging is done via regular microUSB 2.0 by the way, no USB Type-C here.

The camera takes a Sony sensor (IMX298) and puts it behind a f/2.0 aperture and arms it with OIS. It can correct up to 1.5° of shakes with its 3-axis motor (with help from famous stabilization gurus at LDS). It also features phase-detection autofocus.

                              Read up you ignorant troll
