But there has been a habit & unspoken agreement that when we say TFT, it is used to describe TFT TN panel, IPS for TFT IPS, PVA for TFT PVA.
For Redmi 3, they simply say TFT, which means TFT TN panel, which is vastly inferior to TFT IPS panel in term of color reproduction & viewing angle.
Just look at Samsung On5 & On7 review, these 2 models also use TFT (=TFT TN Panel), and the review confirmed that the color reproduction & viewing angel are not good.

Both these displays uses backlight to emit light through a system called transistor. The tft uses one transistor for a pixel whereas the ips utilises 2 transistors for each pixel giving ips LCD the upper hands in producing richer colours and viewing angles. You see tft is an old version used earlier but ips LCD is a newer and an upgrade of tft. If you look close enough you'd see pixelation on tft display which you won't find on ips

Redmi 3 specs are very similar to Lenovo Vibe P1m. It will have a Metal build,Better camera,Better processor than Lenovo Vibe P1m and price of Inr 8,000 or lower will be a big blow for lenovo

WTF is wrong with you guys... If you don't have technical knowlegment, use f*** google, and just stop throwing random facts around.
TFT is used in every single LCD monitors used today (apart only from LG and Samsung OLED and AMOLED).
TN, ISP, MVA (or PVA) are main panel types. Redmi 1S had ISP (as 100% of Xiaomi phones does), and this one has it also. This means that screen will be quite good and in par with with Redmi2 (perhaps better)...

The rest of the spec sounds beautiful, but the TFT screen sounds too inferior , even compared to other standard budget phones. I wonder whether the rest of the specs will be able to save it from being doomed. I, for one, were very interested....until I saw that word ....TFT. I feel llke being thrown back to the ground.

Redmi 2 and 1S both are one of the best Xiaomi phones in terms of audio and camera quality. The flagships are good at camera, but terrible to ok-ok at audio quality.
Let's hope the trend remains on with Redmi 3 too...

I hope this means better battery life but I suspects it's just because that chip needs it. Can't wait for kryo or a72 to scale down to budget phones so we can stop these octacore nonsense. The anandtech mate8 review really shows how screwed up the 2015 chips were.
