SDKforLumia, 11 Jan 2016Wow. To be honest, I am really impressed with how well they... moreIt's not a cheap Chinese company anymore it's valued at 40billion $ much more than some of the more establish mobile phone brands and they have some of the best staff from Google and other companies working for them Hugo barra a former Google executive is their vice President.

Because a lot of people seem to be confused, this is an upgrade from Redmi 2. Regarding spec comparison between them, and while not assuring a 100% accuracy:
Redmi 3 is slightly bigger, but it is a bit slimmer as well. I consider something over 70mm unwieldy for single hand use, Redmi 3 is in the borderline. (I do have big hands though)
It has a Magnesium alloy partial body instead of full plastic.
It is 10 grams heavier.
CPU is around 30% faster, though that depends on what you're doing.
Camera gets upgraded to 13MP (from a 8MP by Omnivision), though IDK if it is a Sony sensor or not. For people that thing that more MP is better, it is not, but Sony IMX258 and Sony IMX214 are both great 13MP sensors and are used in Xiaomi Mi4(c/i) line.
Front camera goes from 2MP to 5MP.
It has a more complete set of 2G,3G and 4G support.
Dual SIM support with mismatched slots (micro and mini, SDCard slot is shared with one SIM slot)
WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n support for RedMi 3.
4100mAh battery vs 2200mAh, it doesn't matter if it is Li-Ion or Li-Po (at least for the spec'ed capacity)
Hope it helps enlightening any doubt over what changed. IMHO, It does not make sense for a RedMi 2 owner to upgrade. However, RedMi 3 looks like a quite desirable device, specially considering the price. As for me, and if it serves as some reference, I shall keep my old Nexus S until it rots...
