Meizu MX6 to run on Helio X20 with 10-core processor

11 January, 2016
AnTuTu's result database spilled the beans on the Meizu MX6, it will pack MediaTek's Helio X20 chip.

koyotina, 11 Jan 2016Did you know that Zopo had already announced that they will... moreThis is very true, the Zopo Speed 8 has now been released with a Helio x20 running things. Unfortunately most people outside of China will never have heard of Zopo which is probably why it hasn't been mentioned.
I did own the ZP980/C2 and have to say, bar the appalling GPU performance, it was a very good phone. Even with the MTK 6589 chipset.
It is a big reason why I hate it when people say that Samsung (for example) make the best phones. There are so many companies out there that make brilliant phones - most of which a majority of people have never heard of - but some people are very sheep-like and follow the next person instead of choosing what actually works for them. It's all very well having the most powerful CPU on the market but what's the point if it never gets used for anything other than emails/phone calls/texts? There's no such thing as a 'best phone on the market' because everyone's needs are different.

lol, 11 Jan 2016Good luck with a GPU that's weaker than Adreno 418. I just play Clash of Clans, I don't need Adreno 990 for that so I prefer to buy phone with cheaper price and good in multitasking :)

10 cores and they'll be ruined by Android. Nice!

Why don't they just use a superior OS like Windows 10 or even Symbian? Yeah, come to think of it, even Symbian would've been a much better OS (if Nokia continued developing it) than Android.

My 3 years old Lumia still beats the crap out of 95% of Android phones today.

The problem with this is that nobody uses GPUs to any important measure (very few games can max adreno 330 even to this day) yet *everybody* uses the CPU.

So if the question is GPU vs CPU , Qualcomm chooses GPU and their general performance is mediocre and Mediatek chooses CPUs and even their cheapest phones are fluid.

And yes, you are right, slightly better than adreno 330 but worse than 418.

I have a Gionee with the X10. Not bad at all. I hope Meizu and Elephone wake up and realize that there are customers in the Americas as well as Europe/Asia.
They need to put more LTE bands/WCDMA for the Americas as well.

That's already over 20 percent performance lost. Less bandwidth (25.6GB/s Kirin 950 vs 14.9 GB/s) will play a role too. I expect it to be very slightly above Adreno 330 but worse than Adreno 418.

Wrong mate! anandtech has already benchmarked huawei mate 8's kirin 950 soc. That soc has same arm Mali T880 MP-4 gpu at 900MHz. Now of course Kirin 950 cpu has LPDD4 ram running at 1333MHz, So it's gpu performance benchmark was on par with adreno 418 and last year's adreno 420. Of course it's little bit behind adreno 430. So clearly it's already superior to adreno 320 and 330. Now of course we don't know what clock-speed frequency the Mali T880 MP-4 gpu will be running, And since helio x-20 doesn't support LPDD4 ram and can only support up to 4GB LPDD3 at 933MHz frequency. And even then it will be still better than adreno 330 or adreno 320. Will just have to wait for this phone to come out.
