Android 2.2 (Froyo) to support automatic application updates

26 April, 2010
Froyo, the next version of the Android OS, is already in the testing and chances are it will be seeded to end-users in a few months time. And as it turns out this might very well be a thing to look forward to...

My nokia x6 really sucks when i compare it to other android cellphones like the nexus one or the x10, but my x6 gives me freedom to do just about anything i want to,like installing apps on my memory card and not to mention many other small basic features which are not yet available on the android platform.Thats why i'm sticking with nokia for now no matter how ugly the use interface is.

Android and apple shoud really work on the phone feature of their smart phones... I own android and my friend has an iphone.... and let me tell you...the cheapest Nokia phone is better at being phone than these so called "super phones"....
Don't get me wrong, I love my android..it's a breath of fresh air after being Nokia to the bone... I still dig Nokia but give android a chance you Nokia fans and u will not regret ir. It may not be perfect but after years and years of Nokia, Android rocked my cellular world :) ...

Seriously, how many effing updates do we need, why can't they just do it all at once. This is getting ridiculous!

I hope that they only do it for an app that doesn't change it's permissions.
If not, someone could develop a free app with a simple feature, and then issue an update with potentially harmful intents.
We will see how seriously google takes our security,
                Aaron, using Nexus One.

they can NOT go down the route of being Ad supported or will ruin the popularity of the free apps. Android will become a farce if that happens. Paid for apps will be the only option and then Android will guarantee it's loss against Apple then. The free principle is what is giving it a fighting chance against Steve Robs!

Also, Apps saving to the SD card is ESSENTIAL, not optional! If they don't do it soon people will give up on it as it doesn't matter how many apps there are in the market if you can't save or utilise many without running out of storage space (cough HTC DESIRE/HERO/LEGEND cough)

Sort those two issues out and world domination will be Androids for the taking!

Nice, Android keeps getting better and better, eventually when it's time for me to buy a new phone (in 1-2 years time) it could very well be an Android, but alot can happen in the market in that time...

I hope it brings the ability to save apps to the memory card
