Nokia N8 goes official with 12MP camera and HD video

It's official - Nokia unveiled their new flagship, the Nokia N8. With 12MP camera and 720p video recording, the latest handset from the Finnish company is on track to becoming the new imaging champ in the mobile...

    3 years later... Still the most popular phone in the GSMArena database with 26,745,182 hits. I can only laugh at people who were against it when it was announced. It's a classic while no one remembers their phones any more.

      I think people have no clue how to review a phone. Burning answered questions are ...
      How good is it in direct sunlight
      How good is the speaker
      How easy is it to use
      For example I have a HTC desire running android 2.2.
      HTC display in sunlight is useless
      HTC speaker is pathetic
      HTC no root access, cant get rid of memory hog programs I don't use, hardly any space to install applications, and most will not install on the SD card.
      Thats a very serious downside, the N8 looks very good in comparison.
      N8 Good in direct sunlight.
      N8 Good loud speaker you can actually hear voice guided navigation in a car.
      N8 No rooting bull sh..t
      N8 Install what you want, and on the SD card
      N8 Open free and QT compatible, Meago apps will be usable.
      If you want to be screwed to the floor, buy an IPhone, Android is NOT linux, they killed all the best bits, its NOT open.
      I have no other choice, sell the HTC and buy an N8.

        Nokia n8's coast will not able to tolerate an average indian.I think Nokia N900 is most better than N8 exept the camera!!!

          too many anti-nokia trolls are posting. really wish GSMarena would do something about this recurring trend. Maybe ban IP addresses with more than 10 "Troll" postings.....

          The N8 looks very interesting. great connectivity & more than adequate camera specifications shown. It will support US T-mobile customers and the wifi specifications makes for great travel prospects. I wondering if it has image stabilization? as this is required by me in a point and shoot camera. any idea of pricing? looks like a good xmas present.

            Same old Nokia, forget great operating system and interface, forget style and sex appeal, just hit us with the hardware, but MAN WHAT HARDWARE. Blows the competition away. It will sell like crazy, and with that louzy and ugly UI, I'm not sure they deserve that. But bravo for finally joining the serious smartfones club. X6 and N900 simply didn't cut it! Would i buy one? Hmmm, I'm an android user/lover, so I was already drooling over Samsung Galaxy S but if this fone's UI has enough convincing improvements over the X6, I may have to consider it.

                      The rest are at 1 Ghz??

                      I would rather say 1ghz is a joke as it is at the moment. It will run your battery empty in less than 1 day of normal use but will not bring any noticeable speed increase in everyday tasks. At least with Android it will actually feel a lot slower than Symbian phones. New Symbian 3 is even more efficient and faster.

                        Ahhhhhhhhh...... years and years of Nokia, than on the way to pick up 5800 I picked up an Android 2.1 !!! Nokia fan inside me died a little :) .... Android was and still is such a pleasant surprise, most of the time, it is indeed a breath of ultra fresh air after Symbian.
                        I’ve seen videos of Nokia N8 and boy…. They almost had me back in a heart beat… then I remembered N97 and it’s “presentation” ….. and Nokia fan died another dead….. but than again it has many lives, to many to count 

                        Simply put Nokia never lost me, and I do hope this phone is all it represents…. I know they will sell a lot of feature phones and still make a lot of money out of it…. But please don’t let us down like you did with N97…

                                        and can you elaborate how important is the speed for GPRS / EDGE when a device should be running on HSDPA/HSUPA most of the time?
