Also as I have old galaxy ace 2, there are so damn many custom ROMs made with kitkat. Lollipop has only few ROMs, but still more than nothing and finally only one beta marshmallow ROM :/ this year will be probably last year for my phone.

We are still a while away from it's newest ApK's being adopted by the 3rd party app community (fingerprint Scanning, etc) but core functionality is fine by all accounts.

Even though mine had last update from Samsung 4.1.2 but I'm in 5.1.1 anyways because I like material design.. when 6 gets more stable will jump into it.

There are still plenty examples of the iPhone 4 model out in the wild, and they are running a version of IOS 7, yet they can still do what they need to do (access the app store and such).

it's a largely the same as running Android 4.4 (which according to statistics is still a large percentage of the Android user base), you can still access the Play Store and all that.

Lex79, 21 Jan 2016What about them? are you asking if they can still be used?im asking if you can still use the phone without updating it to ios 9

And yes you can use an older phone with an older OS. As an example, my wife recently changed her 4S for a 5S, iOS 9.1 was already out by the time she did this, but at no point did the update force it's way onto the 4S.
