Why would you choose Mediatek when Snapdragon is available?
Maybe it's designed for the asian market as a cheaper version.
The trolls that are saying that Mediatek is better, probabily own a cheap chinese phone and they'll die with it instead of admitting they have a crap phone.
If Version 1 of the SD810 had overheating issues, it doesn't mean Version 2 or SD820 have the same problem.
Anyway, i used to be a big HTC fan, but now i think that the brand is almost dead. If their M10 won't be a hit, get ready for the funeral..

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2016at least mediatek don't have heating issue like snapdragon The Nexus 6P uses snapdragon 810 and does not overheat, G4 has snapdragon 808 as does the Moto X Style and neither overheat. One Plus Two (810) doesn't either! Only v1 of the 810 had the overheating problem and most of the upcoming phones will have the 820 on board......sorry what was your point, again?

Why the M9 is such a failure because of bad camera. Price of the M9 is close to an iphone but with a much lower camera( some say M9's camera is worae than an iphone 3). One suggestion is for HTC to lower the resolution on the camera, high resolution camera has its weaknesses too. The A9 has one of the best camera in the industry today, yet it is only a 13 megapixels.

AnonD-336923, 22 Jan 2016if it's the Helio X20 - then I'm definitely getting it. ... moreJust because Qualcomm messed up 810 doesn't mean that they keep doing that. Your 2014 flagships Including HTC one m8 came with snapdragon 801 and all flagships used that beast proccesor. Craptek can never match Qualcomm or Exynos. Craptek comes with lot of weak cores and abysmal GPU performance.

I would like them to use heilo x30 with a more powerful gpu.mediatek gpus are not even close to adreno ones in high end offers .heilo x20 uses mali-t880MP4 .adreno 530 should be 2.7 times more powerful.two versions of the device shouldn't have such a huge gap.

Actually MediaTek is not all that bad, Its just some are just so eager to tweak their phones, and when they soft brick their phone then "Ahh whats this, no way off getting that MediaTek chip running again" So no bad comments about MediaTek please. #BeSmart

Design is the key. We all appreciate that this year nearly all flagships will be equipped with S820. Thus if HTC follows the footsteps of M7/M8 with minimum bezels, good screen to body ratio, it will have a chance to survive. Otherwise economic conditions will probably get worsen.

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2016The difference is mediatek cant compete with snapdragon. Ma... moreyeah, but now think again. What people would think about sd810 vs mediatek? which one would they choose? "eggs cooking soc" or more stable soc? that's what opinions go about sd810 even underclocked SD810 is working good.

oh dear htc, qualcomm is standard and mediatek just a company for lower end mobile chipsets... as snapdragon has got innovations more than anyone else.... if you priced both versions at equal price then you will not going to be profitable in china and south east asia..... hoping to release sd version all over world....

If that's Helio X20, HTC would have 1 advantage in marketing to the mass: "ten-core better than eight-core (let alone quad-core)"
Of course that is from marketing point of view only.
Most people out there don't understand that not every CPU core is the same.
To HTC, good luck with that.
