Microsoft updates Office apps for iOS with support for 3D Touch gestures and Apple Pencil

22 January, 2016
Microsoft has updated its Office suite on iOS to make good use of Apple's latest generation of advanced input methods. 3D touch, for example, is now integrated inside the apps to offer Quick actions (peek and pop). This allows apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint to quickly open up recent documents on launch, among other things.

So yeah, fingers crossed!

"Needless to mention that you can embed these docks under wooden/plastic tables/beds and can have many of them for easy access in any corner of your room." - Your laying back down on your bed, phone is suspended in the air, so this solution is not a solution at all, it's just a way of making the problem more attractive ;) True wireless charging isn't tooo far off, and only then will it become mainstream. The only other way of it becoming mainstream is if Apple embraces it, which I doubt they will as it's not truly wireless and marketing as such is just idiotic, that's why they don't advertise the Apple watch as having wireless charging. Because the bottom line is it is still tethered when charging.

However, for me, the fact that the current tech saves your phone from wear of charging port with regular usage + its ease of use is more than enough to embrace it. Headphone/charging port, tactile buttons are the only mechanical parts in a phone that gets damaged with a prolonged usage and it is inevitable unless you change your handset every year or two. Needless to mention that you can embed these docks under wooden/plastic tables/beds and can have many of them for easy access in any corner of your room.

With more OEMs featuring this tech into their handsets and its dropping prices resulting in better affordability would only make it more mainstream than it is now, since the *true* wireless charging as of now appears next to impossible - unless I'm missing out on something.

Its a very... moreThanks for the Jobs compliment but I cannot accept the honour ;) with regards to the wireless charging, it is a gimmick in present state, the device needs to be on a single spot (charging base) in order to charge. It is still tethered, and therefore not truly wireless. For example, your laying in your bed, your battery is flat, you cannot use it in bed because the dock itself does not allow for it. I don't even consider my Apple watch to have wireless charging, even though it is absent of ports and charges via the magnetic charging dock, it is not wireless.

In contrast, the way companies are offering gimmickry features to its users these days is not applaudable.
