The comparisons with an iPhone 6 or an HTC One A9 are unavoidable.

inferno, 26 Jan 2016Well, I couldn't stay not to reply to your comment. I don't... moreAs far as I know.. Samsung Android phones are worst..I've not used s6 and other above phones. Till S5 all phones were waste.

Yes I sold my S6 within 1st week just because I have to clean it every 5 minutes and never bought note 5.
My current phone is note 4.

Yes I agree about the Nexus 6p. They made a unique, elegant, fresh and sleek design which stands out. I really appreciated that when I saw 6p in the flesh. I'm going to buy it.

Sajjad faisal , 26 Jan 2016And you may be calling it "just decent, nothing more" judgi... moreI know what the HTC One A9 looks like and it's a decent looking phone, but it doesn't wow me. I'm just bored of the same all-metal design. I miss the HTC One M series design, those phones looked awesome. I hope HTC does a unique variant of that with the M10. Huawei had something good too but they're starting to overuse their design. Samsung would be okay if they got rid of their glass backs.

Sajjad faisal , 26 Jan 2016U don't like the curved edges and flat back design but majo... moreIt's not that the majority likes this, it's that it's a simple design to follow and is instantly recognizable because Apple did it, and then HTC did it, and Samsung did it partially (they have the glass back which is actually worse in my opinion.) It's not that it's more popular, it's just convenient and OEM's are hoping they can capture a bit of that Apple status if they do it. If an OEM wants to go all-metal, fine, but at least try to do something remotely original instead of copying the same boring, uncomfortable design. The Nexus 6P is a great example. It's not the best looking phone ever but it does feel great.

Ritzie, 26 Jan 2016There's a reason why OEMs go for the all-metal design Wa... moreNone of that matters to me, neither is any of it new to me. I still enjoy the look and feel of my phone over any all-metal device. I believe that a metal frame and a removable polycarbonate back is the way to go. The LG V10 is really nice too. I can also get behind all-polycarbonate like the LG G4, or the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The only all-metal device that I really like is the Nexus 6P and there are better looking and feeling phones out there. OEM's are going all-metal because people are pushing for more premium feeling phones, then complaining when they lose functionality. Samsung, anyone? By the way, I think the glass backs is a terrible idea. Sony does it decently but it's old now. Anyways, the "justifications" for why every OEM is using the same basic all-metal format instead of at least trying to do something new with it don't matter to me because I still don't like them enough to bother feigning interest.

                Anyway, quantity =/= quality.

Android is like Opel/Volkswagen in Europe. Affordable and works good enough for the common driver.
iOS, Windows, BBOS are like the expensive models of BMW, Audi, Mercedes. (not in that particular order)

I don't know about other cheap companies that you mentioned, but as far as my knowledge goes and my time with Xiaomi phones they are as good as any Samsung,Alcatel or HTC phones though not as good as Apple. Their MIUI is far better than Touchwiz or HTC Sense.
Not all Android phones lag after a few months. I don't know where you got that myth from. Phones do lag and the variety of android phones and wide hardware use leads to a greater percent of such cases than Apple or RIM, where there is tight control over hardware and software. I have been using a xiaomi phone over an year and half and it is as smooth as it has been on day one.
http://www.idownloadblog.com/2015/09/18/ios-9-lagginess/ Lagginess is an issue that plague all devices and it can be fixed with a software update given the hardware isn't outdated.

Way back in the days when Nokia was reigning as champion, most (if not all) units have the signal antenna separately or portruding from the plastic cases.
Due to the current consumer feedback on BOTH aesthetics and ergonomics, they have to deviate away and find a solution on making it fit into smaller (or thinner) form factors

Currently, we find it economical and easy if we use the entire phone as the antenna itself (a separate antenna also have issues with signal loss if the antenna is blocked by the hand or the body)
In addition, we can use it as a heat sink for the CPU (heating issues has always been there but was only prominent in this generation because of a much more powerful chipset BUT still relying on the SAME FINFET technology.. this is in general... I know the newer CPUs are currently undergoing the new FINFET tech)

And, besides, having an all metal body just feels good in the hand (except when the phone heats up of course...)

Looks like Samsung on the front and like HTC/iPhone on the back. And specs will be the same on many more models and brands further. My favorite design on the Mi Series still goes to the Mi3 for its uniqueness.
Still, 64GB Mi5 will be the best you can get for the price, top quality phone for heavy users along with the best interface there is for Android, MIUI. If not enough, you'll get continuous updates till your hardware suports them.

Everyone remotely into tech knows how much Apple charges and still they choose to buy it. No one forced them to. Also , when profit is calculated , only the material cost is taken into consideration and not the R&D cost , marketing cost , salary to employess etc. Include all this and the profit margin is not that high.

The only thing that matters is the quality of their products. The only companies that matter are Nokia (even though they didn't release their new phone(s) yet), Apple, Microsoft, HTC, LG, Sony, Blackberry, Alcatel, former Motorola and Samsung. All the other Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo, Acer, Oppo, Meizu, OnePlus, and all the other no-name brands are just garbage. Not to mention that 90%+ of all Android phones are just wasted money. There are only a few Android phones out there that don't start lagging after the first 3 months of usage. (but they lag after 6 months or so - which makes them useless)

So if you want a good phone with a good OS, go for an iPhone, Windows phone or BBOS phone. Only buy an Android phone as a last resort.

And I wish every phone should come with same design. Even Sony. And I'm happy that HTC will also have some design in upcoming phone(s).this (not particularly this, actually one A9 design) is far better than s6 or S6 edge or Sony Z5.
Why to hate the best design just because apple made it? (I know that they copied the metal body and antenna strips of HTC, but the concept of flat back and rounded edges was of Apple(as opposed to the curved back and straight edges of HTC ones.)
But for this phone, the colour tone and Polish should be more refined.
