I always like flying Jet Blue, very reasonable prices, but this system will fail. Flying cross country I've never been able to keep connection on their "Fly-Fi" system long enough or with enough bandwidth to load even a single web page, not to mention that when the system looses signal it is down for 20-30 minutes at a time. Mind you this was on a "Red-Eye" flight (2200-0600) so you can't blame it on high traffic volume. With that being said this system is completely safe because it will never actually be connected to any network.

The IFE (In Flight Entertainment) System is entirely separate to the flight control systems. There will be built-in security features so if the IFE did malfunction or was hacked, it will shut down so that if could have no effect on the rest of the airplane's systems. There should be no way of being able to hack in to the main aircraft systems from the IFE. With regard to the USB port, this is nothing new at all, Air Canada have been doing this for at least 12 months now, as I would expect most modern aircraft fleets do.

I just hope planes don't get hacked or something. Even a virus could F up the planes electronics since most Android systems can get infected with viruses/spyware.

Trooper, 26 Jan 2016Free, with the cost of your flight, I would have thought.The ones equipped with internet currently don't offer it free, especially for those riding economic. I forget exactly what they charged but it was something like 25 bucks on my 4h flight. If it was a 13h flight I might have done it....
