Always better to buy last year samsung flagships. They lose value so fast that price is so attractive. Speed wise, it's comparable to iphone 5s, but it has a bigger screen and much lower price, and let's not forget the memory expansion and removable battery.

i've had this device for more than a year now and never have i had any issues with it, and with the latest build things have become so much smoother, games like GTA:SA runs so much better too, battery life has decreased over the year but i am still planning to keep this phone for maybe a year more or two? but seriously, yoi shouldn't just base your facts from papers, real life usage is still what matters and the phone does not fail to deliver on that aspect, except of course if you like the "FLAGSHIP OF THE YEAR" guy then things will be different.

So you don't need a power bank.

And this is a good example why is it important that the phone has removable battery.

Older flagship, high-end phones are always better than newer mid-range or low-end phones, despite of that they have similar price.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2016It's still just 2gb of Ram. That's practically low end spee... morethen manufactures are selling dead phones already ... and many other will come out directly from the graveyard because are still using mid range processors ... low end screen resolutions ...less than 2 gb of ram and poor graphic cards ..not to say camera setup .................. im going to tell u something i dont know what u do with ur phone but for most of the tasks even an old galaxy s3 should be able to complete that ........... for games and emulators u can run games with any adreno card .. u want an example my old xperia play could run good games even the modern combat 4 ....nes.sns,gba,nds,n64,psx,even psp with some of lag on god of war other were running fine.... how.... well that is a gingerbread phone 2.3.3 with 512 mb of ram....single core snapdragon s2 scorpion adreno 205 ...... only thing i had to do was install customer kernel called doom..... and take the frequence from 1ghz to 1.5ghz .... and thats it ......thats a flagship from 2011 so.... keep in mid that not everything is ram or cores ....u want a better example... MKX game and asphalt 8 run on snapdragon 200 adreno 304 ..... dual core phone ........... 1 gb of ram and able to move emulators better than the other device i was talking about....... now days most of the phones are good,..... and are able to run everything exept for the speed to load apps but thats something that a lot of people doesnt care ..... plus........game makers and app makers develop apps to work even with low end ... so imagine now will be a nexus 4 frozen with a facebook app.... or a galaxy s4 ..or even my lg G2 .... with their 4 cores 2.3 snapdragon 800 dont make me laugh boy..... the real challange for a phone now days is the dolphin emulator wich can only be run properly trough nvidea tegra devices ..........due to the good graphic cores ...... being only app if im not wrong using opengles apis beyond the usual 2.0 and unreal engine................ u talk with no facts

the_seba, 28 Jan 2016Get it while stocks last. I've had the S5 for over a year a... moreYeah but there's also a S5 Neo (G903F). DON'T get that! It lacks the IR-blaster and is slower. But it has a 64-bit SoC and a 5MP front camera instead o/t 2.1MP one on the classic S5. It also lacks 4K recording on the 16MP back-camera.

But it has a slightly different TouchWiz which CAN use themes. Which is a VERY welcome addition with regards to battery-consumption as there's a dark/black-theme for these newer TW-variants.

I would love for Samshit to equalize these TW-versions so EVERY goddamn device can use themes especially the more expensive ones, like classic S5, that got updated to Lolipop or newer.

Lollipop update had several effects on battery life, some phones last longer now or they just drain faster. In comparison to devices in the same price range, It performs well.

There's no such thing as the perfect build, so I guess the perception of the S5 is based on what problems you encounter. Battery life was not a huge concern until Android Lollipop was released and people were finding problems. We can only hope 6.0 fixes this.

I don't run any games on it (so I won't comment on this topic) but for every other day-to-day task it's brilliant.

You don't need to play 24/7, but a few hours a day is considered heavy. I have friends who spend a crap load of time playing games and their battery life suffers both short and long term.

Better options do exist, but they lack features that the S5 has and people aren't going to make the sacrifice for better battery life when a power-bank or extra battery is obtainable.

In all honesty, heavy users drain battery fast on almost any device. It shouldn't be a significant factor in buying a device, if you like the features then buy it. Power-banks provide an excellent counter to devices that suffer.
