Microsoft sold only 4.5 million Lumia phones last quarter

I've had the privilege of owning an iphone 4/5s, samsung s3/s3:4g/S4/S5, oppo find 7, lumia 1020,930 and now 950xl and i can tell you honestly windows mobile is my preferred system of the 3.
With every android handset i've owned updates have been slow, numerous hardware bugs and apps often have issues. Using a vanilla rom the same issues occur.
Iphone i've had no gripes with brand new but after they're 2 gen old they start having sporadic issues after an update, as if they want you to upgrade. Couple that with an inability to use the phone as a drag and drop storage device as is and the iphone becomes the best option A) If you are happy to live with itunes and B) You will upgrade your device every 1 or 2 years to have the best experience.
Windows mobile has its gripes too. A lack of popular apps such as snapchat being the main one. Besides that however i have had the most consistent experience with windows phones. My 1020 is still running smoother than my much newer S5 and oppo find 7 without any hiccups despite having mid range hardware. My 950XL has been fast and reliable (it is a new phone after all) and i do not find i really miss any apps apart from snapchat.
Overall i highly recommend windows phones, they're a genuinely great alternative to the other two operating systems. Cortana is the best personal assistant on a phone ive used and the phone just works, something i cannot say for android devices as given time issues WILL arise. If only microsoft lowered the price of their flagship devices and got some major developers on board. As the prices are you are better off with an iphone if you don't mind itunes.

Sure the device is priced appropriately for its rated specs but you cannot compromise on quality ever, that's the death knell for any hardware manufacturer & one of the reasons Apple sells well.

No Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1/Windows 10 Mobile true flagship successor to the Nokia Lumia 1020 which now is more than two and a half years old, when the average product life cycle of a smartphone is anything in between 6 - 12 months. New supposedly flagship smartphones (Microsoft Lumia 950 & 950XL) which in comparison to Android look like mid range devices (design, build quality, materials used, app selection, limited hardware, expensive, poor value for money). New Windows 10 Mobile hero devices (950 & 950XL) suffer from poor battery life, mainly because of SoC (Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 / 810) and non optimised operating system (Windows 10 Mobile), at a time when new flagship Android smartphones not only will be either released or updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow with its Doze function which will further increase stand by time but will also be getting the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC which will be very power efficient since among others will be build on the second generation 14nm die shrink while at the same time more and more flagship Android smartphones are equipped with bigger batteries which simply last longer. I guess it is very hard to guess the reason why Microsoft only sold 4.5 million devices during the last quarter. Even if that number increases during the first quarter of 2016 because of the full availability of the new Windows 10 Mobile smartphones (Lumia 550/950/950XL) it will only be a temporary increase since once the relatively high initial demand is satisfied then sales will plumet again until they reach the same level as of the last quarter. Have in mind, that this is by far the best case scenario for Microsoft, since in reality consumers may give up waiting for a proper flagship Lumia smartphone or are fed up waiting for the app gap to close in comparison to the Google Play store and start replacing their aging Windows Phone smartphones with Android alternatives. Being the owner of a Nokia Lumia 1020 I bet that most people will leave Windows Phone without giving Windows 10 Mobile a chance. They will simply go to Android and they will never look back again. Microsoft has only itself to blame for this.
