This should be made by every manufacturer. You buy smartphone and can try both OS for a month than you need to decide what OS will stay on your smartphone because licenses. I hope every manufacturer do this. They should add sailfish OS also.

Most people have their phones near them at all times, and so this feature is just what most people need. Also, even on a 4.5" display, I have no problems seeing my notification icons from 3-4 meters away.
In the case of someone who does a lot of manual labour (just an example) and can't keep their phone around them or in their pocket because it might get damaged, then yes - a notification LED is more useful than the Glance Screen.

I can see my notification LED from across the room, blinking with different patterns and colors and I know what is happening. If you can see your Glance screen from even 1 meter away then you must be a super-human. Glance screen is utterly useless in the current form. And with Glance Screen consuming 5-7% battery life on an efficient OLED screen (and impossible to implement on a TFT screen), the notification LED doesn't even consume 1%.

Pair that up with an AMOLED screen and keeping Glance Screen on continuously will only drain about 5-7% of your battery/day. LED notifications are just outdated and inefficient when compared to this.

It would be more interesting if customer can bought any variant and reflash it using official ROM of either variant. So I can buy Android version and then reflash it using Windows 10 Mobile for example. Or the other way around. This way, customer can try Windows variant without the fear of buying a dead end OS (a lot of people questioning the continuation of W10 Mobile and suppress their interest for trying one since they need to shell out their money for that).

Well, a Windows version surely makes this piece of technology interesting. It will be nice to see a proper smartphone OS running on this hardware instead of the limited, buggy, laggy Android that you commonly see running on most phones.

Now this is one development that may make me try the Windows Phone 10. Faster operation, more frequent updates and top of the line hardware. I just hope it has a notification LED, that's all I need to be able to use Windows Phone 10.
