I mean obviously the c... moreIt seems to me to be a choice to cap video recording to 1080p (much like the Huawei Mate 8), rather than a hardware or software limitation. I can see their reasoning, as the file sizes are huge (compared to 1080p) and 4k display devices are still nowhere near as popular as FHD display devices. Makes sense to me.
