No apple huh? Guess our country can't really afford that really expensive handset unlike other asian countries like jap, china, thai, kor, phil, indo, malay, viet etc where they are really sold well. (google it) Guess they had more money than sense. hehe

Well someone made a comment on majority of the phones being sold are crap budget phones.
Yes they are budget phones but not crap. Look at the specs of the majority of phones being sold .. its mostly 1080p, 4.7 to 5.5 inch, at least quad core processsor. 2 gb ram, 8to 13mp camera etc. Now at the top of it they are dirt cheap.. Rs 7,000/- to Rs 11,000/- (its roughly 100 USD to 160USD)... that's too contract free.
Companies like Micromax & LAVA are making decent phones at half the cost. These companies have reinvented the value game... As for profits I can vouch that even the Micromax with 13% share will definitely be making more profit than APPLE.
Alll said & done these so called cheap phones are:
1. Definitely not cheap but are affordable.
2. Making profits for the companies who are selling them.
3. Are somewhat close to 2013 flagship phones in terms of features & performances.

Take a look at Sony mobile division finances...
They charge a lot for their phones, but they don't sell enough to have profit...
Here in Brazil they sell the Z5 for something around $ 875, but I never saw anyone with a Z5...

Thats good for the Indians, even if most were budget smartphones, the budget smartphones today can almost do everything what high end smartphones can do and I guess we have to thank the Chinese.
