Oculus will offer PC bundles for the Rift, starting at $1,499

10 February, 2016
There's no going around it, for most enthusiastic fans, the production version of the Oculus Rift came with one major disappointment - the $599 price tag. And sadly, even if you decide to fork up the money, there is also the matter of specs requirements for your rig and primarily having a beastly GTX 900 series GPU, which Nvidia isn't exactly giving away for free either.

And there is no way in hell that MR will be cheap by any standards. It will be a matter of you want it? Pay for it. You cant? Go cry about how greedy we are on some tech blog and don't let the door hit your a$$ on the way out. And that doesn't mean that it doesn't have a chance of winning.

Mac 90's war?...this will go down to a price battle... and the one that can bring VR to everyday use will win.

And they wont jump into the VR race for AT LEAST the next 2 years. And that's ok, the rift is there to fill the void. But we all know they don't have to be the first to market, to end up being the best. They already working on MR... So I say: "Take your time Apple, it'll be worth it."

Fun fact. There are only 10% of the entire world computers that currently have GTX 900 series GPU. So, the rest of the world will need to buy these Oculus bundle sales. VR is a really high-powered device if you want to experience it to the fullest. It is actually at a higher level than Samsung Gear VR. Don't forget Gear VR itself is made by Oculus, which is actually just a lite version of the REAL Oculus. Oculus Rift don't require smartphone but it require a powerful computer to be connected to the headset. Yes, you will lose the wireless experience Samsung had been giving you. Meanwhile, I will wait till the day we can get full-immersion by getting inside the game itself for real. I believe in technology rapid development it is completely possible 10 years from now. Thank for reading me blabbering about this.

It looks really good image wise. There is a fine screendoor effect that is very particular do to the chevron shape in which Sony has set the pixels and the magnification of the cardboard lenses.
When the images are shown in regular 1080 HD the image is slightly pixelated so it will be very interesting to see how sharp the images are displayed in the Rift, being that its native resolution is 1080×1200

AnonD-226698, 10 Feb 2016They are screwing it up with the high price. As i said...T... moreVR is not cheap to produce. Palmer luckey said that even at this price they're not turning a profit on the headset itself. Its the controller and audio setup that's getting oculus money.

There were rumors that the psvr will ship with a processing box of its own, if that's the case, it cannot cost less than 500$, which puts it at more than the console itself.

VR gaming is new, its not meant for everyone. I, for one, believe that the price is totally reasonable. If psvr is cheap (say, 250$), they'll make big sacrifices on performance which probably would end up ruining the experience, thus making the rift a better choice.

wow for pre-builts that's actually really nice pricing.

As i said...This is aimed at the hardcore PC gamer that is willing to drop this pretty cash on a new system.
In my opinion consoles like the Sony PS4 will eat this up if they can issue a reasonable priced headset that works with their already successful rig.
