the S650 is slightly above S801 and same tier with S808...
the GFXbench benchmark has test it before. The score speak for themselves.
The 650 will be middle-high range class replacing last year Snap 808 platform but not reaching Snap 810/exynos7420/apple A9/tegraK1/x1 performances level.
Those who has already Snap800/801/805 phone, dont have a single reason upgrade to this one..
Qualcomm succeed on milking the product line..and yet they still refuse to " reduce the chipset price "..
Beware of this marketing trick game.

Peter-B, 12 Feb 2016We covered the S650-powered Redmi Note 3 weeks ago: http... moreIt's just a cover of the announcement with minor details.

Forgive me if this sounds too difficult for you all, but IMO the article should follow up by preliminary test result of the snapdragon 650 and perhaps with the 652(for the sake of up coming Samsung A9)

I mean both of these are the next big players in the mid-highend market, aren't they?

          So 435 ~ 615?

Qualcomm is pretty confusing with names. They give it a name, then change it later, then...
            Same with S4 and 600, 615-650, whatever...

Only Asus seems to be worse, with the very same model meaning completely distinct devices, say Zenfone 2 551ML meaning (either/both) a 1.8 and/or 2.3 GHz SoC, 2 and/or 4 GB of RAM... That is, at least 4 different devices with the same model number...

If I remember correctly, didn't the snapdragon 425 exist before this, as a 1.7ghz octa core? This naming is also confusing - snapdragon 425 and 430 are both less powerful than 415.

So seemingly a mid tier 600 series (i.e 625) is build on a smaller process, while the upper tier 600 series (i.e 650/652) is on a older process. They should have manufacture 650/652 on 14nm as well. But I guess 650/652 can't have everything, they are already pretty close to flagship SD 810 with their performance and if efficiency is also added to it then SD 810's only saving grace will only be Adreno 430..lol
