DXB, 19 Feb 2016Useless if they will not use two front speakers (L/R) .Just use external speakers or at least headphones, never the phone's own built-in so-called-speakers.

AnonD-476425, 19 Feb 2016they will focus on headphones output power and quality like... moreActually for high impedance you need less current but more voltage for the same power applied to the headphones. You would need a boost voltage converter to crank up the volts you need to drive higher impedance headphones.
This is actually deeper hardware modification than just a DAC, so I would expect an added size or something like this, at the very least the price should go up.
Considering the B&O tag on it though it's not unexpected, + the flagship factor.

Would be very interesting to know what they actually did to the phone when it comes to the market.

Yuri84, 19 Feb 2016I remember HTC doing something similar with their phones, a... moreHTC 1st went with that sore excuse of audio - Beats, and then they ditched it and actually got better results overall. But the next time they went with "Improved audio experience" it actually was a huge improvement, it was the Harman Khardon edition M8. That one actually had quite better noise floor, dynamic range and total harmonic distortion figures, + high impedance headphone drive and HD audio files playback without downsampling.

Let's see what LG will do now, brand wise it's got a proper partner.

To GSMArena now: when you test it... please trow a HD file to at least show the numbers it can do! On the V10 that is supposed to have a 32 bit DAC (utterly useless as no device nowadays can even show all of a 24 bit one), the dynamic range was pretty much 16 bit level and frequency capped at 22 KHz, please use an HD test now! Not that I can hear 40KHz I just want to see it playing it like a pro!

I tell you all one thing i had lot of different smartphone brands, nokia, motorola meizu jiayu sharp oppo and know very well sony, iphone and samsung (s6 edge) and have to admit that the stereo sound speakers of oppo 7 was the best i have ever heard till today !!!!! Really just unbelievable and no other brand till now have this astonishing quality !!!

I remember HTC doing something similar with their phones, and in the end their "oh so great" sound modification was just an equalizer preset. I just hope LG won't do a similar marketing trick here, will add real high-quality sound processor instead.

I wish the up the power output and support for up to 600ohm headphones. I would consider it good then. (sony got it external and pricy)

phone company just need to make a good speaker but not great. just a good speaker because who would blast their room using phones speaker!

This is really a good news, and absolutely compliments to LG for this! And because the sound on many flagship smartphones is just mediocre. And hope that others will follow, starting from Samsung, and I honestly don't know what they are waiting for? I hope that this year's S7 will have a very decent sound?? But at least it seems that the sound on the G5 will be better.

                              no innovation

I wish they added front-facing stereo speakers. Of course, the sound wouldn't be as good as in professional standalone speakers but it'd be a great addition to that old mono sound.

If "audio focused" includes a high-quality DAC and stereo speakers... awesome, another LG phone that will cost an arm and a leg.

Anything that's "audio-focused" is supposed to have a flat freq. response and I don't think the G5 will be the Note5 in the respect because the Note5 doesn't have a FFR and B&O will obviously colour the sound.
