Existing Galaxy phones won't get the Galaxy S7's Always On feature

22 February, 2016
Rumors that Samsung's newest flagships - the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge - will come with the Always On feature turned out to be true when the devices were unveiled yesterday. However, if already you own a Galaxy phone and are hoping that your device will get the feature, you're sadly out of luck.

Well why don't the app developers create a similar app if it is possible? According to the info you gave, it is just a matter of positioning. And if third party app developers can do the job then it would be much customizable.

Even pre-Android Nokia feature phones had the similar glance feature. Do some search.

AnonD-362866, 22 Feb 2016A desired feature? lmaoYes. Once you get used to it it's stupid to see so many phones with Amoled displays and nothing on them. You don't even know if your phone is on. :-) Also, you can quickly see the time, missed events, and where your phone is in the dark (totally important for me). :-)

The South Korean company has confirmed that none of the existing Galaxy handsets (not even flagships) are getting the feature.....

                            ...because of hardware limitations.

Since everyone wants to mention and compare Nokia... I have just 2 questions:
                                Where is Nokia today?
                                Where is Samsung today?
                                Hows that for a comparison?
Reasoning, bullshit and excuses aside. The bottom line does not change.

You're not even right on that one, my Nokia N85 had a oled screen and also shut down the whole screen except those pixels, this is 8 years ago, I find it funny that the manufactures didn't see this as a desired feature and implemented this long ago since oled screens have been on the market for a couple of years
