25 February, 2016
Xiaomi Mi 5 was announced yesterday and while international availability was mentioned, it may not happen on a scale as wide as the media hoped for.

Guys, not trying to discourage you, but even Indonesia, supposedly the 3rd largest market for Xiaomi , has frustration to get some of their flagship models. It seems all decisions come directly from China on when & where to sell what . I'm very interested in Mi5 Pro, but to be honest, I have my own frustration & doubt whether we will really have all the complete models of Mi5. So, don't hold your breath if you live even further away. I'm a Mi fan, but I keep telling my friends the same thing "If no definite answer on availabilty, don't wait ! Just buy your 2nd best option".

He want Xiaomi to be known internationally, but you only get so far without releasing the phones elsewhere. I would be eyeing one if they actually released, but I'm not hardcore interested to import one, there are much safer bets to put my money on.

MI 5 will not have the first Marshmallow-based MIUI 7. First Marshmallow-based MIUI 7 for general public was for MI3 / MI4 (cancro) and Mi Note (virgo). Though it is developer and not stable version.

READ: We haven't paid IP licenses in EMEA and NA and thus, we can't launch there officially, or we will be sued for all the patents we are using, but have not licensed.

                    China, on the other hand...

Good. Official launch would make it so expensive no one would buy it anyway.

adeelraj, 25 Feb 2016it means they cant meet international demandsNope. I am a bit tired of these Xiaomi nonsense decisions. Besides, most of their phones lack 4g/LTE capabilities used in the West anyway, so better stay where they are.

The rest of the world is using LTE band 20 (800 MHz) so the rest of the world is not interested in Mi5.
