Pretty soon Samsung will put a fruit logo on the back of their phones for a "simplified and elegant" look.

I've always kinda liked the logo. But it does look so slick and sophisticated without it. Won't be surprised for it to go global.

I can see a lawsuit coming from Apple - once they've bought the patent on 'no front logos' ;)

I just can't imagine who does and why does these similar decisions for other contries? why not just do this for all phones? like why CPU chips are shared based on regions? why not offer both options? why Sony removes fingerprint just in US? why... can't list more similar situations... Why not having both or only one for everyone? why? it would be even easier for phone makers and would be fair for all people... I don't understand decisions like Samsung's....

Samsung Mobile Korea and China a decade ago were known as Anycall.

While I doubt the Anycall brand is returning any time soon (it was killed off with the YEPP branding, Samsung's brand of MP3 players), the fact that Korean and Chinese Samsungs are together lacking front branding I dont think is a concidence.

For all we can this could be a sign of things to come, with the two markets being a test bed. Or, as the Anycall branding was, it will only apply to those two markets.

The Black S7 Edge is quite sexy without the logo, too bad it's only for South Korea and China :

One of the best 6 incher is the Vibe Z2 Pro of Lenovo. No logo in front unlike fcking Sony's 6 inchers. Very llow bezel. Bigger screen to body ratio. Shame they update their phones just 1 OS then that's it. That's why i stick to Huawei Mate 8 albeit no 4k recording.

Well... its not new to know... the same had happened with Galaxy S6 as well...

Mi logo is much better than any others brand bcoz small and simple at front left on the screen its look too impressive.

If you know how Samsung market their product you will understand. In Korea, Samsung smartphone is mostly used in korean drama. In the drama they usually put sticker or matching color tape to cover the logo(Reason, product placement is not allowed to be too obvious). It make the phone loses its beauty. I guess they don't want tv producers to put sticker or tape on their phone for tv drama purposes. Yes, over 70% korean drama are sponsored by Samsung. You will always see Galaxy devices and even the smartwatches in their drama. Depicting a very futuristic society with modern gadget is the norm for them. Like seriously, who scan their smartwatch to pay for bus ride, right? Anyway, I like the Japanese version of S6 from last year too. Very beautiful especially the emerald one.

They been pulling this stunt in Japan for a while because they were trying to obfuscate the obvious Korean name "Samsung". In Japan these phones are simply known as "Galaxy".

Strange how Samsung now want to hide their name from their own country though. Rebranding, maybe? Or don't want to pay for two different sets of ads?

Hugo barra, VP stated in the Xiaomi MI5 Launch even(you can check):
This is the main reason/disadvantage of samsung's less "Screen to Body ratio".

                                  So Samsung reacts :)

I really like the OnePlus X because the only "markings" it has on the entire phone is the 1+ logo in the back. No text anywhere and nothing on the front of the phone.

I really hate having text on the body of the phone. Especially if it's in the front. Just makes it look like a cheap promotional gift.
