Anonymous, 01 Mar 2016Games don't need much ram. Caching does...You obviously not a gamer then. Game like Watch Dogs need at least 6 GB of RAM. A PC with only 4GB RAM will results in laggy and stuttering while playing. It's the same with phone. When I play a 3D game from 512mb or 1 GB phone, it suffer a severe lag and often force close on itself. That kind of thing never happened on my 2GB phone.

sr777, 29 Feb 2016The desktop PC I use for production only has 2GB ram. Wond... moreMy PC was using 4GB of RAM. It's lagging so much even for just browsing or surfing online. Then I upgrade my PC to 8GB RAM, it's never suffer the slowdown or lagging anymore.
My current phone has 1GB of RAM, but it's will slow down after browsing for hours. So yeah, RAM really important today, though for this time a phone only need 2-3 GB to avoid any lag. But having 4 or 6GB of RAM needed for futureproof only. Even after 3-4 years, a phone with 6GB RAM will not suffer any slow down, though everything else except the RAM will become outdated.

The "4G" you saw in the 3rd box refers to the 4G speed of the network, nothing about memory storage space............

sr777, 29 Feb 2016I have a Windows phone and an Android tab, both have 1GB. ... moreYeah and it absolutely get murdered by my surface pro with 8gb of ram running remixOS (android). My RemixOS makes windows seem slow by comparison, I mostly boot to remixOS nowadays (faaar more fluid), I boot to windows only rarely, and if I can port my productivity software to remixOS (probably via chroot) I will say bye bye to Windows completely...

Windows run well in low specs but doesn't scale well. Android runs badly in low specs, but scales like a motherf****er. That's why phones need that much ram yet laptops would hardly benefit. Laptops run Windows (doesn't use ram for caching well), phone ran android (linux ram mangement).

sr777, 29 Feb 2016Crawls? lol It boots up instantly. I use it for production ... morePeople talk about ram like its a gimmick. You can't have enough of it. There's no penalty for having it, it doesn't drain battery life.

Next you'll be telling me you have 20Mb hard drive and cant understand why people need more

Other that all other software are up-to-date. I sometimes need to use emulation software for my work they also run smoothly.

You need to know why you need a PC or a smartphone for and decide the hardware based on the need. Not by watching TV Ads.

I use a Windows phone and an Android tablet, both have 1GB ram and works very well.

You guys spend more for hardware that is not needed. But yes it is future compatible to have a phone with 6GB ram. And again how often do you think the OS will be updated by these manufacturers and how long are you going to use the phone.

sr777, 29 Feb 2016The desktop PC I use for production only has 2GB ram. Wond... moreCaching. It's important on phones (better battery life), but unimportant to PCs.

Ram is more important to phones. Like resolution is more important to phones too. For example most phones have 1440p while most PCS have 1080p (in that case you hold the phone closer).

PCS need more processing power, not more RAM , get your story straight.
