LG G5 supports QuickCharge 3.0, Galaxy S7 is only 2.0, what's that about?

29 February, 2016
Qualcomm's website states that Samsung's flagship is stuck on the older-gen charging tech.

levenly, 02 Mar 2016why people still believe that phones without "removable bat... moreWhy people still don't understand that non-removable means non-removable.
Yes, you can replace the non-removable battery the same way as you can replace the screen: you have to open and take apart the unibody phone. This results in damage to the phone. And you can't do it yourself. You have to send it to the service, pay for shipping (or your travel to the service if you go in person), pay for the new battery and pay for the service work. And you have to wait for days or weeks till you get back your phone (depending on how far the service is).

And what happens when the service center don't support your phone anymore, because they want to force you to buy a new phone? You're out of luck because you're depending on them.

Even if you can replace the non-removable battery, you can't replace it to a 2x or 3x bigger, higher capacity extended battery (obviously).

So having a non-removable battery is crap.

That is why Samsung is nr. 1 investor in mobile in research and development. That´s why their "old" microUSB charges faster than Apple´s super-expensive lighting port or USB type C.

Or maybe they went out of their way to make microUSB as capable as USB type C so customers don´t have to compromise AND they don´t have to buy a new VR headset that is only compatible with microUSB phones. Not talking about the fact that the rest of the world still has microUSB accessories.

there are thousands of guides, online, showing people how to take apart "non removable"-type phones. this banter needs to stop. and no, i'm not a samsung fanboiz, i had an s4 and didn't like samsung's take on the software and am looking to replace my N6 with the LG G5...

AnonD-480709, 29 Feb 2016Gsmarena is always on Samsung's side...Lg G5 is better even... moreSamsung is famous now but it never was before. Also, try living with a Galaxy phone. It has many more features than similar phones and you know you have premium quality and support even with cheaper devices compared to LG. LG is great at OLED TV´s and many other things but they don´t have the best phone, sorry.

Anonymous, 29 Feb 2016The advantage is that if you go outdoors away from anyplace... moreSo there is no advantage because you can just buy a battery backpack cover or you can charge your phone from an external source (external battery) or if you always need great battery life because you are out and about all the time, you buy the S6 Active that has the best battey performance in the world and not the regular S6 that sucks badly at battery life.

Also, all options I mentioned are cheaper than buying a genuine battery (when I bought another battery for my S4 long time ago, it was 40 USD and I had tu turn the phone on and off repeteadly to swap or charge batteries). There is no greater annoyance. People who REALLY need more power will do one of the things I mentioned before. Like I did, bought an external charger from Samsung and the convenience is incomparable.

Also agree. The removeable battery AND the SD card option are just too important to just ignore as Samsung has quite conveniently chosen to do. I've owned Samsung Smartphones since day one when 3G was all that was out there and 4 phones later I must say Samsung phones are a big waste of money when compared to what else the market has to offer. They have done more than just limit their phones in this way as they also are guilty of locking bootloaders giving us no option to upgrade to later versions of Android and carriers are just thrilled at this thinking we will be forced to upgrade yet again even when our 2 and 3 year old phones are more than capable of running the later version of Android. Bottom line is LG blows the doors of Samsung in every imagineable way and there is not one person with half a brain that can ignore how so many people are fooled into thinking a touchwiz phone with no SD card or extended battery options is a good choice. Once you have used a very worthy phone from a competitor, your Samsung phone will be destined for the graveyard or at best, get sold on ebay or craigslist. If you are a knowledgeable smartphone user with real smartphone needs, Samsung should be the LAST phone you think of.

Any phone with non-removable battery is just a disposable phone. All of them will become a junk, a paperweight after 1-2 years because the batteries lose capacity over time. Especially if you are a heavy user/gamer and you charge your phone every day, or 2 times a day. It lessens the value of the phone if you want to sell it or buy it second hand.
                                Non-removable battery = planned obsolescence.

Using a power bank, battery case or wireless charging is not a solution, because it means more frequent charging which further shortens the phone's battery lifespan (the same applies to high current/quick charging as well). The other problem with powerbank is that you have to carry one more device and a charging cable. The power bank won't save your phone if the battery in your phone has bulged and won't hold a charge.

The best and proper way to extend battery life is to replace it to a bigger, higher capacity extended battery. For example ZeroLemon has made a 10000mAh extended battery for Galaxy Note 4 (the last Samsung flagship with removable battery). It has 3x the capacity of the original Note 4 battery. It wipes the floor with your power bank.

And higher capacity battery means less frequent charging which means longer battery life.

The removable battery is a must and a big part in all smartphone device especially if I'm case of emergency...swapping a new battery will never overheat the entire hardware inside of the smartphone and it is not prone to system failure.

                                  Just my opinion...

I like a removable battery because I have found it useful to instantly go back to 100% charge. When I was on vacation in Europe, I was using my phone to catch free Wi-Fi signals and to take pics. I was down to 10% by 2pm local time, and swapped in a new battery and was good until I got back to the hotel, whereupon I used the phone to charge up both batteries for the next day. I also used my phone as a GPS, so having a spare battery was crucial.

I could have brought along a battery pack, but I'd have to connect it to my phone and use it like that with the cable sticking out the bottom and going into my pocket, which isn't exactly convenient.
