Google accepts 'some responsibility' after self-driving car causes its first crash

01 March, 2016
One of the Google's self-driving cars met with a minor accident earlier last month when it hit the side of a bus. It's not like the company's autonomous vehicles haven't been involved in accidents before, but what makes this particular incident important is the fact that this was the first time a Google car actually 'caused' the crash.

AnonD-442781, 01 Mar 2016Or you can realise you don't know anything about cars and a... moreThey don't need to drive of have a license, they just need to know how to code and use machine learning and you can be certain that if there's one thing people at Google know, its how to code, and code well. As for the accident if you look at the stats for the all the Autos out there you'll see that it's much much lower than an average human driver.

Anonymous, 01 Mar 2016Can you really make a Lexus go steadily in less that 2miles... moreThis one is a hybrid (notice 'h' after the number - it's an equivalent to 4.5L engine in terms of power), so has to be an automatic.
Plus, pretty much all Lexus are automatics. I think their last manual was an IS220D in the European market, which they stopped producing around 2012.

So, basically, if you are riding a small vehicle like a bike, you are supposed to "yeild" to these cars, no matter how they drive, right?

Can you really make a Lexus go steadily in less that 2miles per hour?? even with a controlled clutch release (in manual version) the normal idling race in the car would make it crawl at around 5-7miles per out atleast.
No sure about the Automatics though.

Now for people that say that self-driving cars are safe:
Divide that one car accident on really good road with not that much cars by few millions.
On average roads filled with brainless people on bikes that behave like kings and people that think they know how to drive and behave also like kings(Golf/BMW/old gramps in Mercedes) You would end in hell, where car dont know how to behave when bike drive 10cm from your right side and some "I know better" person would crosswalk on your road using ninja zigg-zagg style with stopping in the middle to show you finger. and behind you its truck that break few cm from your bumper.

Also take in to the account European roundabout when there is no rules and you move left or right from every line. Or Typical France/Spanish tight streets where you park with margin of even few millimeters.
I would like to see how such cars would behave there and how "safe" they would be.

Put that car in Madrid, Berlin or Paris and then we can talk about how safe such cars are.
